My annual reminder/teaching moment.

Veterans Day (originally known as Armistice Day) is an official United States public holiday, observed annually on November 11, that honors military veterans; that is, persons who served in the United States Armed Forces. It coincides with other holidays, including Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, celebrated in other countries that mark the anniversary of the end of World War I; major hostilities of World War I were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, when the Armistice with Germany went into effect. At the urging of major veteran organizations, Armistice Day was renamed Veterans Day in 1954.

Veterans Day should not be confused with Memorial Day, a U.S. public holiday in May; Veterans Day celebrates the service of all U.S. military veterans, while Memorial Day honors those who died while in military service. It is also not to be confused with Armed Forces Day, a minor U.S. remembrance that also occurs in May, which specifically honors those currently serving in the U.S. military.

By the way, none of these folks are suckers and losers.

A return to our Roots.
The Dark History and Horror Con 2025 will mark a return to the passion that started this whole adventure, True Crime.
As some of you may know, the con was originally known as simply Dark History Con. It operated as this for its first two years of existence, 2014-2015.
As the years have gone on, we expanded tremendously and incorporated horror into the mix in 2016. It was always supposed to be a balance between the two, since Brian’s big passion is Dark History. It has steadily gone much further towards horror over the past few years.
While we love horror, we are making a conscious effort to better balance those elements. This con was created before the corporate event, CrimeCon and we strive to be the affordable, indie alternative. So be on the look out for more news as we go along.

Dark History and Horror Con is set for November 8-9 2025!
We will be hosting the event at the gorgeous, historic, haunted Orpheum Theatre in downtown Champaign.
There will be A LOT more information coming your way in the coming months. Vendor spots will go on sale in the next few weeks, keep your eyes open for that announcement as we ALWAYS sell out early.

Saturday——-3 EXCLUSIVE screenings, 2 from local filmmakers and 1 from Indiana. Plus another local film to kick things off.
Then Sunday——-Films submitted from around the the world AND from some surrounding states.
Support all of these filmmakers, cast, few and all involved. They are pouring their blood, sweat and tears into making entertainment for us fans, the least we can do is come watch their films and offer our support.

Photo Ops!
Saturday only——-The Grinners Gang will be in full costume
All con long——-Paul Allen will doing be a "father / daughter" duo photo op in costume as The Harvester, and Delilah “Dee” Hefner (who plays The Harvester's daughter) as well as doing solo photo ops.
All con long———-Bill D. Russell will have his Doktor Death costume with him for photo ops
