Another wedding season is in the books for Todd Cameron DJ Services and I am left again with a heart full of gratitude that I am somehow allowed to do this job for a living. After getting to witness so many special, fun, and touching moments and so many epic dance parties, I was able to finish this season with the most incredible wedding of an old friend, Jess Nixon (aka Jessika Nixon) on Hornby Island. Jessika used to frequent my karaoke show back in the Foundry Days and has since found true happiness and created a wonderful family and I couldn't have been more honored to help her enjoy her big day as she and her love made it official. They were also gracious enough to gift me a cabin for the weekend and to offer for me to bring along Nicole and Jack so we could have a mini vacation on Hornby as well. This wedding and the entire season will sustain me now through the winter until I can get back behind the wedding DJ table in the Spring! Thanks Jessika and Khale and everyone who trusted me with music for their big days this year!

As this year has pretty much been a write off for work, I've been keeping myself busy with other creative projects including some stop motion animation. Last night at the Wardroom in Esquimalt, the bartender, an older Scottish gentleman (who was hilarious the whole night) told me that he was gonna put on his music before people showed up because my music "was going to suck".

I chuckled and said "What? You haven't even heard it yet?"

"Yeah, I know you guys," he answered and put on some Paul McCartney.

Once people showed up, we switched over to my music and after a few songs, I could see him nodding with cautious approval. An hour and a half in, he approached and, with a big smile on his face, he said "Well, you"ve got a clean slate with me!"

He was my best buddy for the rest of the night!

I live for these moments! This 14 year old just got back from the Worlds Irish Dance Competition in Scotland and slayed the dance floor in front of the entire wedding! Now THAT'S what I call Footloose!
