I had a great time volunteering at the Marine Corps Ball this weekend! It was so much fun decorating, babysitting, and dancing for their "Moana" themed childcare services.

I love baking, so I was excited when I was asked to make cupcakes for the "Just 4 You" community cookout yesterday. We fed over 300 people, and had a great time of fellowship. Ever since I was a little girl I've learned that one of the greatest gifts you can give is your time. The next feeding will take place November 29th. Inbox me to find out how you can help.

NATIONAL GUARD BASEBALL GAME AT GRAINGER STADIUM WEDNESDAY NIGHT!

More than two dozen Army National Guard soldiers will be playing a baseball game tomorrow (Wednesday, Oct. 19) at 6:30 p.m. at Historic Grainger Stadium (400 East Grainger Avenue) in Kinston.

It’s an opportunity for these dedicated soldiers who have been working long hours throughout Lenoir County to have some fun and to play on one of the best professional baseball fields in America.

“It is our distinct honor to give these true American heroes – who have selflessly helped our city and county in our time of need – a big league experience,” Kinston-Lenoir County Parks and Recreation Director Bill Ellis said. “We are proud of how hard they’ve worked for us and we are looking forward to giving back to them.”

The parks and recreation department is providing equipment for the soldiers to use and umpires to officiate the game; Ellis and members of his department are also feeding the soldiers a pregame meal.

Kinston’s Chris Hatcher, a relief pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers, will be at the stadium; he will talk to the soldiers before the game.

The public is invited to cheer on the soldiers during the game; there is no admission charge, but fans are encouraged to bring a can of non-perishable food or make a monetary donation. All food and money collected will be donated to the Lenoir-Greene United Way, the official relief organization for Lenoir County.

Concessions will also be available for purchase. Minges Bottling Group has donated Pepsi products to be sold at the event; all proceeds from the sales of the Pepsi products will be donated to the Lenoir-Greene United Way.

MEDIA RELEASE: The Neuse River is expected to peak near 29 feet on Friday afternoon. A Mandatory Evacuation remains in place for residents and businesses along the Neuse River in Lenoir County. Residents in affected areas are highly urged to safely leave their homes with the potential to be displaced for several days. Evacuation and relief operations are ongoing throughout the county. I love seeing the community coming together, especially to pray. As I held one of my neighbors hands I did not know during prayer. I was reminded of God's command to love thy neighbor. Job lost everything he had except his wife. He developed sores on his body and was miserable. Although he was in great pain and heavy sorrow. He knew God was in the midst of it all and had a purpose. During times like this we must continue to love our neighbor and show them we care through our actions. We must also continue to pray and praise God in all situations. Let's never allow our earthly circumstances to direct our praise. As long as we have breath in our body. Let's pray and give God praise. He is working everything out on our behalf! Keep your head up.

I am definitely enjoying myself in the beautiful city of Mooresville! We had a wonderful dinner, and orientation! All of my Mrs. NC/SC sisters have been so nice! Now it's time to get some sleep for the big day! 👑✨
