Ceremonies By Sabra I'm Sabra, a Secular Wedding, and Funeral Celebrant. They wanted to surprise their families who would be vacationing from the United Kingdom. This was perfect!

Passionate about equality and a heart that thrives on connection, I specialize in crafting personalized ceremonies that reflect the essence of each individual and couple that chooses me. Why I’m an Officiant...
In 2017, two of my closest friends announced that they were getting married in just a few short weeks. I’d always wanted to officiate a wedding, and it would insure me an invite! So, I beca

me ordained and married them! We had a marvelous backyard wedding and stunned all four parents! From organizing to preparing to rehearsal to the ceremony, making it special for them…it was what I was meant to be doing! And now I am…I am doing what I was put on this Earth to do, and I couldn’t be happier. After three years and a pandemic I felt that I could offer more to my clients, and after extensive research, I enrolled in the Celebrant Academy. I received my Masters Certificate in July of 2021. I want nothing more than to help you create the ceremony that you deserve to have. All of my clients are welcome to look over their ceremony prior to the event. I work for you, and I want you to be happy!

Just received a customer email with some pictures from a wedding earlier this year. Her wedding guests absolutely loved them. Great to hear!

I missed you quietly today. So quietly that no one noticed.

I missed you as I climbed out of bed and as I brushed my teeth; when I waited at the lights on the drive into work and as I heard the rain outside my window.

I missed you as I ordered lunch and as I kicked off my shoes when I got home; as I switched off the lights and climbed into bed for the night.

I missed you without tears or noise or fanfare.
But oh how I felt it.

I felt it in the morning, at lunchtime, in the evening and at night. I felt it as I woke, as I waited, as I worked. I felt it at home, on the road, in the light, in the dark, in the rain.

I felt it in every one of those moments, each one sitting heavier and heavier as the weight of me missing you kept growing and growing.

Yes, I missed you so quietly today.

But I felt it so loudly.

As a funeral celebrant, I guide you in honoring your loved one with a ceremony that truly reflects their life. My aim is to create a meaningful tribute that celebrates the unique life of the person you’ve lost.
When we meet, I take the time to understand your family’s needs and the person you’re saying goodbye to. I listen to your stories, look at photos, and work with you to design a service that feels personal and fitting.
I focus on capturing your loved one’s essence, incorporating personal stories, special music, and meaningful readings. Whether you want a secular service or one with spiritual elements, I’llI create a ceremony that feels true to your loved one’s beliefs.
On the day of the funeral, I’m there to officiate and offer emotional support, and to work with the Funeral Director to make sure that everything runs smoothly.
Personalization is key. I suggest rituals, music, and readings that hold meaning for your family. Whether it’s lighting candles, planting a tree or releasing butterflies. Choosing significant songs, giving away prized recipes or having guests wear a favorite color, I help make the service uniquely reflective of your loved one.

On August 17th, I had the honor of officiating a truly special ceremony for Julie and Todd at the Historic Holly Hotel. This venue holds deep significance for the couple—it’s where they had their very first unofficial date back in 2019. Despite the devastation caused by a fire, the Holly Hotel, much like Julie and Todd’s love, is a symbol of resilience and new beginnings.

With the blessing of the hotel’s owners, Chrissy and George, we were allowed inside to capture some memories. Chrissy, ever the thoughtful host, prepared a beautiful wildflower bouquet and boutonniere for the couple. She even set up a charming sweetheart table, complete with a charcuterie board and a bottle of wine, making the day even more intimate and special.

Tammy from Reflections by Lorencz Photography expertly captured the love and joy of the day, and Chrissy snapped a few moments herself, making for a beautiful compilation of memories that Julie and Todd will cherish forever.

Despite the ongoing rebuilding efforts, the Holly Hotel was the perfect backdrop for this momentous occasion—a testament to the enduring nature of love and the beauty of second chances.

Congratulations, Julie and Todd! Your journey together is an inspiration, and I’m so grateful to have been a part of your special day. 💍✨

🌄 Kalispell, Montana, here we come! 🌄

I'm taking a much-needed week with my amazing friends Sarah and Sabrina in Kalispell, Montana! I'll be embracing some serious R&R until Thursday, August 29th. That means I'll be going screen-free—no emails, no texts, just pure, uninterrupted vacation mode. 📵

But don't worry, I'll be sharing some epic photo dumps to remember this trip for years to come. I can't wait to take in all the stunning views and make some unforgettable memories. See you all when I'm back!

Funeral celebrants, also known as officiants, play a crucial role in honoring those who have passed away. They focus on creating ceremonies that reflect the deceased's life and beliefs.
In times of grief, celebrants serve as guides and storytellers, crafting unique farewells. Their ability to add humor, warmth, and personal touches to a service showcases their skill, experience, and compassion. Collaborating with a funeral celebrant means you’re not just planning a service; you’re celebrating a life.
While many see funeral celebrants as secular, they can preside over any type of ceremony, secular or religious, even incorporating traditional elements.
Planning a funeral can be overwhelming, but celebrants offer support and guidance throughout the process, easing the burden on families.
Certified funeral celebrants create inclusive, ceremonies that appeal to diverse audiences. They blend traditions and beliefs, incorporating music, poetry, readings, and rituals to resonate with everyone in attendance.
In addition to designing and conducting services, celebrants support grieving families with emotional guidance, helping them navigate their grief journey with compassion.
Funeral celebrants often collaborate with funeral directors to ensure a seamless, well-organized service. While I do work closely with local funeral homes and can be hired by the Funeral Directors, I can also be hired directly by families.

🌟 Celebrating the Gift of Friendship 🌟
Today is the International Day of Friendship, and I’m feeling so lucky to have such amazing people in my life. 💖
I’ve met so many wonderful people over the years. Some friendships have lasted a long time, while others have come and gone, leaving great memories. Whether they're near or far, each friend has made a special impact on my heart.

To my long-distance friends: Even though we may not see each other often, our calls, messages, Polo's and virtual hangouts always make me feel close to you. This proves that true friendship knows no distance.

To my nearby friends: Thanks for being there for spontaneous hugs, meals, chats, and just hanging out. You make everyday life so much more fun and meaningful.

A special shoutout to my incredible clients and fellow wedding vendors: Over the last 7 years, many of you have become dear friends. Your support, teamwork, and friendship have made my life and work better. Here’s to many more years of creating wonderful memories together!

Every friendship has brought joy and added to my life. I am endlessly grateful for each one of you.
So, here’s to celebrating our bonds, cherishing old friends, making new ones, and enjoying all the wonderful moments we share.

Happy International Day of Friendship, everyone! 🌐❤️

🌟🏈 I had so much fun officiating Amanda and Stanley's wedding at the gorgeous Victoria Wedding Chapel and Garden in Waterford! 🌟🏈

Amanda and Stanley are the perfect example of a couple who think outside the box, embrace fun, and allow me to get super creative. Their beautiful Tuesday afternoon ceremony in June was one for the books, especially with their love for football and the Detroit Lions woven throughout.

From the moment they told me about their idea, I knew we were in for a memorable ceremony. I had the pleasure of reading "6 Ways Marriage is Like Football" inspired by Rev. Dan Callahan, adding some playful yet heartfelt moments.

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝗮 𝘀𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗸 𝗽𝗲𝗲𝗸:
Stanley, do you promise to be Amanda's biggest fan, to stand by her side through victories and defeats, and to always share your game day snacks?
Stanley: I do.
Amanda, do you promise to be Stanley's number one supporter, to celebrate the wins, console the losses, and always wear your Lions gear with pride?
Amanda: I do.

And the best part? They tossed a football as I shared these words: "As you pass this ball between you, remember that it's not about who holds the ball the longest, but about how well you work together to keep it in play." It was a perfect moment leading up to their kiss as husband and wife! 💍❤️

Huge thanks to Amanda and Stanley for allowing their amazing photographer, Robert Breish of Robert Breish Photography, to share the stunning gallery with me. Can't wait to share more moments like this!

Cheers to love, laughter, and a lifetime of teamwork! 🥂📸

🌟 Inquiring Minds Want to Know! 🌟
Have you ever wondered how long you have to change your name after tying the knot in Michigan? Well, I did some digging for you! 📚✨
Straight from the Lansing Social Security Office, Legal Shield, and Michigan Legislature, here’s the scoop:
💍 When I asked, “Is there a deadline for changing your name after marriage?” The answer was, nope! Can you believe that?
Your marriage license doesn’t have an expiration date! So, there’s no reason to freak out if it’s not done right away. When I called the Lansing office today, the friendly representative shared that some couples actually wait years to make the decision. 🕰️❤️
So, whether you’re newly married or celebrating many wonderful years together, there’s no rush on the name change front. Do what feels right for you and enjoy every moment of your journey! 🌟💖

instead of saying, "i know what it feels like", let's say "i cannot imagine your heartbreak".

instead of saying, "you're strong, you'll get through this, let's say " you'll hurt, and I'll be here.

instead of saying, "you look like you're doing well, let's say, "how are you holding up today?"

instead of saying, "healing takes time", let's say "healing has no timeline".

instead of saying, "everything happens for a reason, let's say "this must feel so terribly senseless right now".

and when there are no words to say at all, you don't need to try and find some. love speaks in silences too.

Lindy of Aye Do Ceremonies in Scotland posted this and it's so well said!

A few days ago I was contacted by a couple in their 80s, who are considering having a ceremony to express their love & commitment to & for each other witnessed by family & friends. In an ideal world, they would have a marriage ceremony but it would affect their financial situation too much.

However, they’re a bit worried that others will see a non legal ceremony as being pointless, and question whether family & friends will want to attend a ceremony without any legal weight. They go on to ask, “Does it become an excuse for a party with little meaning to anyone but the actual couple?”

To me, having a betrothal/commitment ceremony and entering into a legal agreement are two completely different things. For a legal agreement, you sign a piece of paper, that in effect will protect you in law according to the Marriage (Scotland) Act.

A ceremony however, is something altogether different. It’s a sacred event where two people come together to share their love and commitment in a meaningful and personal way. Unlike the legal process, a ceremony is not just about fulfilling legal requirements; it’s about creating a special moment that reflects your unique relationship. The ceremony is about the emotional and spiritual bond you share, celebrated in the presence of loved ones, creating lasting memories. In essence, the legal agreement is the formal process that ensures your union is recognised by the state, while the ceremony is the heartfelt celebration of your love and commitment, imbued with personal meaning and sacredness.

But the other thing they asked was if they are too old to have a commitment ceremony. I think if you are lucky enough to find love in the closing chapter of your life, you should shout it from the rooftops! Let the whole world know, share your joy with everyone you meet, and remind us all that love knows no age! 💕🥰

How wonderful that you get to spend your twilight years in love and so, stepping into ceremony to honour and celebrate your love is a beautiful moment which allows it to be recorded for all time, transcending the years and enriching your legacy with a timeless declaration of devotion ❤️

Last weekend, I had the joy of working with the incredibly talented Rondo String Quartet at Alex and Reagan's beautiful wedding at Creekside Acres Event Barn. Their live music added such an elegant touch, creating a magical atmosphere for the ceremony. It was wonderful to see them again and be part of such a special day. A big thank you to the Rondo String Quartet for including me in their blog post—your music truly made the day unforgettable. 🎻💍
