That's it. I'm done!!

I photographed my last official wedding this year. I've been very slowly winding down over the last four and a half years since a pretty amazing company took a chance on someone with a major gap in their resume and employed me in the "real world". They have given me opportunities to build a career I could never have imagined and that is where my heart and soul now lies. Thank you Silver Chef for helping me achieve my dreams to live a life of fun, and adventure, and for one of the best places I could hope to be every single day.

Thanks to those who have supported me over the years, and the wonderful friends I have made along the way in the photography and wedding industries.

I'll still continue to shoot for friends and family (when bribed!) or for very special requests (also when bribed!).

I hope you have a very Merry Christmas with the ones you love!! Tony & I are spending our very first White Christmas in Russia!

All of my friends have been getting married this year and there's nothing I love more than to get to share what I do with the people I care about.

What all of these weddings have had in common is that they have been intimate gatherings, with a focus on family and celebration rather than tradition. Where the bride and groom get ready together, and time with family and friends far outweighs hours having photos taken. And I bloody love it!

The first wedding of the new year is always pretty special, and yesterday's was no exception. I witnessed my beautiful friend and talented wedding professional Rebecca Calvert - Mobile Airbrush Make Up Artist & Hair Stylist marry her best friend, champion, and true gentleman in her husband Dean. I've never known two people more deserving of their happily ever after, and wish them a lifetime of amazing adventures together.

When Sarah Jane from Cake That! asked what we wanted as our wedding cake, we told her to go nuts and make whatever she wanted. Sarah Jane is insanely talented, and I knew better than to put limits on her creativity. I’ve known SJ going on 10 years, and she knows I’m not traditional, or conventional. But there was no way we could ever have imagined what she would dream up!

Yes, there was a cake – a whimsical creation based on our invitations and save the dates – that acted as a decoy to distract us from what she was really cooking up. Just before speeches, our actual “cake” was hoisted up, and instead of a knife, we were presented with a cricket bat. Turns out our cake wasn’t a cake. It was a piñata. Totally completely edible. We smashed that baby into oblivion. And it was bloody delicious!

There's cake, and then there's a Cake That! cake.

Sarah Jane you crazy cake lady. You nailed it.

I wore pants to my wedding and I don’t regret it for a second. I can’t go past a good pair of slacks, and for me it was important to feel comfortable, normal, and completely “me”. I saw my first Hilde Heim Designer Bridal Couture gown back in 2007 and have admired their work ever since. All their gowns are designed and hand-made individually by Eilish, Sharon & Clare, and I can tell you they fit like a glove.

Working in the wedding industry you meet a lot of amazing vendors and suppliers with whom you share great working relationships, and sometimes you’re lucky enough to meet people who become very dear friends.

Anne Campbell Weddings is one of those people. Anne has the ability to make you feel like you’ve known her forever, even if you only met 5 minutes ago. A consummate professional, she instinctively knows how to put people at ease, a quality that makes her one of, if not the best wedding celebrant Brisbane has to offer. She’s funny, caring, kind, patient, and she sure knows how to carve up a dancefloor. Seeing her comfort an emotional Tony was so very special, and there’s no one else in the world we would have wanted there beside us.

When Tony & I got engaged the million dollar question was "So who's going to photograph your wedding?".

Turns out it wasn't such a difficult choice when Evernew Studio have such brilliant and talented photographers on their team. We're so glad we also chose Evernew to film our wedding day, and to now have this real life moving memory of all the laughter and emotions we felt. Nothing can replace that.
