The Damon Runyon 5K at Yankee Stadium is the only charitable run/walk held inside the legendary ballpark, using the concourses, ramps, stairs, and warning track as its course. The Runyon 5K is hosted by and supports the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, which provides today's best young scientists with funding to pursue innovative cancer research. We are disappointed to announce that the Damon Runyon 5K at Yankee Stadium will not take place in 2024. Thank you to all the runners, walkers, volunteers, and donors who have supported the innovative young scientists funded by through their loyal participation in the since 2009. While we will miss seeing you at this year, we hope to bring the Runyon 5K back in 2025 and will keep you updated.

If you are still interested in raising funds for cancer research this year without climbing 286 steps inside a ballpark, we encourage you to set up a Facebook or Instagram Fundraiser, or email [email protected] so we can create a team or individual online fundraising page for you.

Sneak peek! Here is a preview of the official 2023 t-shirt and finisher medal that our runners and walkers will receive this year. Advance packet pick-up starts tomorrow at
Race bibs and t-shirts can be picked up at Fleet Feet’s Upper West Side location from 4–7 pm on July 27 and from 11 am–2 pm on July 28. Can’t make it to advance pick-up? No problem! Event day bib number pick-up will be available at on Saturday!

Runyon 5K - Bluebirds in Pinstripes

Bluebirds in Pinstripes is the perfect tribute to team captain Sharon Lechleiter’s childhood best friend Jill, who died of cancer at the age of 11. Jill wrote a poem about a bluebird that sang the story of life and would become the symbol of Jill’s spirit and her legacy. This memory, combined with her love of the New York Yankees, has inspired Sharon to recruit friends and family to fundraise for the Runyon 5K for the past seven years.
