I did something clever with the warp threads, but I'm darned if I can work out how to describe it - decreasing stipe widths? - have a look at the close-up photo. Ribbon hilted claymore ,
a close copy of an original claymore dating from the early 1700's. Probable dating from the 1720-30's.

The basket is made up of wider bars (hence ribbon hilt) reminiscent of Scottish claymores of the late 1600's but with an overall design style that indicates a later construction date. Basket style is of solid well constructed design with minimal embellishment and decoration overall a practical functional claymore .
Backsword style blade, single fuller, finishing with back edge at the tip.

As is standard for me the claymore has weighting in the grip. It is built around a carbon fibre core and finished with flexible realistic silver paint.

42 inches in total.

A couple of basket hilts this morning.

A Mortuary hilt sword based on an English civil wars original

And a shell guard sword based on a French Napoleonic original.

Both built on carbon cores and the baskets are fully reinforced with leather though out making them very robust.
