The first America's Birthday Parade took place on October 8th, 1878, and was modeled on New Orleans’ Mardi Gras celebration. Louis by steamboat. Today’s imaginative and colorful floats are conceived and created by artists and craftsmen, as part of the world’s most elaborate float–building operations. The annual America's Birthday Parade is a celebration of our community and our country, and is one of St. Louis’ most enduring family traditions!

Mark your calendars for July 4, we’re having a parade, live music, activations downtown, and of course, fireworks!

America’s Birthday Parade kicks off the Celebrate Saint Louis July 4th Festival with a magnificent display of vibrant floats, synchronized dances and live performances, featuring some of the nation’s finest marching bands. This quintessential summer event, winding its way West along Market Street, set against the backdrop of the Gateway Arch, is a tribute to our city, our community and our nation. Plus Misty Blues All-Female Skydiving Team will dazzle the crowd at the finale of the parade.

Downtown St. Louis is gearing up to celebrate America’s birthday with the Celebrate Saint Louis July 4th Festival this year.
