I tried to edit this photo so Lauren of .art wouldn’t looks so ghostly white… but then I realized… SHE WAS DRESSED AS A GHOST! 👻

8 years ago I photographed a wedding with as one of the vendors. That was the first wedding had catered and they’re still at it! I caught up with them at the carnival for my local city and tasted this beautiful pineapple! The pink was passion fruit and the yellow was mango, AND IT WAS DELICIOUS! It’s so fun to peek back into my old life.

Happy Veteran’s Day to my favorite vet! is my BFF and is a total BOSSSSSS! Not only does she basically run , but she served our country as a negotiator. What!!! She’s also an amazing mom. For example. She works full time, AND cooks FROM SCRATCH dinner at least 4 times a week. She even makes her own yogurt. So there’s that. AND she even took her kids backpacking with just her and her three kids. Yeah. She’s amazing and I’m lucky she’s mine. Well, she’s not really mine anymore because she went and got married. 😒 BUT I am still happy for her.
Amy. You’re amazing. Thanks for being my friend and for serving our country. 🇺🇸
Ps: we are such good friends we bought the same car! Full disclosure, I bought it after her. 😊

Dang. What a wild ride this has been. Tonight was the last family photo session I had on the books. And of course… karma I guess… it was the Wilmore family. 💗🥰💗🥰
Within the Wilmore family, I’ve photographed the wedding of 3 couples. 🥲 We reminisced about each of their engagement and first look sessions and the fun weddings they all had. Guh. I just love this part of photography. Meeting great people and connecting with them with family photos after their weddings. 😢
It’s definitely bittersweet. But it still feels right. In fact, I’ve already accepted an offer and I’ve put in a solid two weeks of work already. 🙂
I’ll tell you more about that later… but for now. My 💗is thinking about all of my awesome clients. If you’re reading this and I’ve taken your photo… I want to say THANK YOU! Thank you for sharing these special memories and trusting them to me. 💗

As a photographer you get to watch the sunset and be in nature ALL the time so when my family wanted to go out for adventures, my answer would be ‘I’ve been in the mountains 4 times this week already... I’m good.’
So I started bringing my family to the mountains with me. While I worked and photographed my cute clients, they would be hiking or swimming or whatever. Then I’d meet up with them afterwards and it felt like two birds/ one stone kind thing.
After my shoot up at Tibble Fork on Saturday I snapped some fun photos of Ellie in the water. It’s been fun using my camera for personal use again. I think I hated my camera for a bit. I hated being known as the photographer at family events and expected to have it in my back pocket. So I stopped bringing it around. This last week I’ve enjoyed snapping photos that mean a lot to me. So that’s what I’ll be posting. Images from my life that I love. These are some of my beautiful talented daughter. She’s performing in PAN July 15-17 in American Fork with . She’s a mermaid! 🧜🏼‍♀️

I’ve been rocking it at Splash Summit (formally known as Seven Peaks) since I was Ellie’s age. Today I went on the boomerang ride backwards and I definitely screamed louder than anyone else. It was soooo fun but definitely terrifying. 🤣

I’m out! ✌️
I’m officially retiring as a wedding photographer. Time to pivot. Step aside and let the next generation ride the ride.
I’ve been in my twilight years as a wedding photographer for a bit now and I feel like I’ve hit a ceiling. In the service industry (and in the Utah market) I can only physically make a certain amount.
I’ve also realized that I’ve gained enough knowledge and experience as a wedding photographer to last a lifetime.
This decision was inevitable but still painful. I cried for two straight days. Thinking about my clients/friends and the many sunsets I saw all over the world. 😢
In the sadness I still felt comfort that this was the right direction. This was something I CAN control.
I’ll finish this wedding season like a rockstar AND...
What’s next?

38 years old... again! I actually thought I was 38 last year. Yay! I didn’t get older. 🤪

Beware of scheduling your photo session TOO EARLY out at the Salt Flats. When it snows and rains on the flats there’s nowhere for the water to go but up! So it stays in a GIANT ocean until it evaporates. I would shoot out there in July or later. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Butterfly kisses Butterfly Biosphere. I’ve wanted to visit this exhibit for awhile now and it lived up to all of my expectations. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It was so humid and warm inside so wearing a mask wasn’t super fun but I wore one the entire time until we put this butterfly on my nose. Then we snapped some shots and put it right back on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I brought my and my 105 mm 2.8 Macro lens. It felt like I was in a dream... butterflies 🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Flying everywhere! They would land on your back then fly away, then stop for a treat on a flower, then back into the air. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A sneak peek of my cute couple up with the on Saturday. 🌸😍
I wanted to post a shot of these two and I kept going back to this one. I know they’re both closing their eyes and it’s probably a simultaneous blink... but... I just love it! It looks link their both just laughing and enjoying a sweet walk in the blossoms. 🥰
It was a busy day to photograph their engagements but after rescheduling three times because of weather. (I still love you Spring) We HAD to shoot before another storm ruined the blossoms.
Absolutely love this couple. Katelyn told me she was a fan girl and that I made all of her dreams come true. 🤪🥸🤣🤣🤣🤣
I hope I didn’t disappoint her. I mean... I still have my Covid weight on AND my hair isn’t multi colored anymore. I look like a regular Joe! but she said she still loves me and I’ll TAKE IT! 😃😃😃😃😃

It’s been a ROUGH winter for us all. It was super not fun for me. I came home from Hawaii and was sick 🤒 for two months. As of last week I was finally feeling like myself again and realizing that so much time had gone by. ☹️⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

posted some of my recent macro images I shot during spring break at the Butterfly Biosphere . ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This transparent butterfly stood and posed for me for 10 minutes. What a champ!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I needed that time because it's always a bit confusing working with a macro lens. I would take a photo and zoom in on it and it was a bit too blurry or had too much bokeh. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I shot this at F7.1 and look at the shallow depth of field! YAAAAAS! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
With the SIGMA 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro lens you don't need to use that 2.8 fstop to get dreamy imagery. The focal length of 105 mm helps with that. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Friends. I'm a wedding photographer, so when I went around snapping photos of butterflies I was out of my element. When I went home to edit them I was SO proud of myself. I even made my husband and kids come in and give me accolades. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Oh salt water! We’ve become so close... you and I over the last week. What with the nasal rinses and such. I didn’t realize how important you were until Dr Shipley says ‘you won’t be able to sneeze for two weeks’. Then if you MUST sneeze. Must... like I can control it. Be sure to open your mouth. 🥴 Now I sound like a dying cat every time I sneeze and I’m terrified my nose bones will come flying out of my nostrils. 🤧😵😵😵⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The recovery is going well! I’m feeling better and better each day. Tomorrow I have a shoot up at Tibble Fork and I need an assistant. Anyone interested? Basically just help my hold my bag and swap lenses out and such. DM me if you’re interested. 👍😀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This is how happy I feel. 😃😃😃😃😃😃😃⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was able to get my sinus surgery yesterday and I feel SOOO much better. I owe it all to my mom. She kept saying ‘the squeaky wheel gets the grease!’ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
She ended up calling my ENT doctors office on the daily to ask if I could get my surgery date moved up. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I didn’t realize that normal people could breathe so well. They ended up shaving something on the inside of my nose so I could breathe better and expanding my sinuses with some balloon technique. Yesterday I looked at myself in the mirror and my nose is noticeably thinner and smaller. 😲🤩⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I liked my nose before but I really like it now that I had an accidental nose job. 🤣⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve been so sick for so long that I’m just thrilled to feel slightly like myself. And I’m still recovering so it’ll just get better from here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I was asked to edit these images because a family friend snapped this elopement for the bride and groom in Switzerland. I super wish I could have been the photographer, BUT I'm glad I was able to help improve the images with some Lightroom editing made possible by my Lightroom Presets. I shot this on a bridge in Minnesota. I was speaking and it just so happened that my destination wedding couple lived in Minneapolis. They got married in Grand Rapids, CO but I hooked up with them after my presentation and we shot around the city. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I didn’t realize how much Pinners Conference affected my life but it opened so many doors and led to lots of opportunities. What’s that saying again? You can’t steer an anchored ship? I didn’t know really what I was immediately getting out of my speaking with Pinners Conference but it led to multiple wedding bookings, speaking engagements, selling The McKenzie Bag and Lightroom presets, and built my customer data base. I spent my time and money to fly across the nation to tour with Pinners and it definitely paid off. If anything else it was always so much fun to travel!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m still speaking in Utah for Pinners, but I’m now only traveling for weddings. It might change next year, who knows! I’m always open for the next opportunity that comes my way. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I’ve had chronic sinus infections for 10 years and I’m finally scheduled to have surgery in April. It can’t come soon enough. I’m so sick of being sick. 😩 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Have your winter bookings decreased and your summer weddings increased? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you lower your prices to become more competitive?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Did you tweak your wedding packages to accommodate smaller weddings with less coverage? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Yesterday I hung out and as a presenter for a live macro photo critique.
IT WAS SO MUCH FUN!
This was an image shot by - it’s a dandelion! I thought it was a cool artichoke. Macro photography shows us a new perspective on such a small world. Imma fan.
I know SIGMA recorded the critique... I’m just not sure if it’s been posted yet. I’m thinking it would be fun to do a wedding photography critique. What do you think? Would you be interested in me critiquing some images live?

This morning Greg and I visited the place where we had our first kiss. 😘
We haven’t been back to this spot for 17 years. Needless to say it was very emotional and a moment I’ll treasure.

Greg and I dropped Ellie off to ballet then went to the mountains. We didn’t have coats or boots so we were super careful not to get stuck in the snow. 😉⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
In fact, we pulled over to snap this photo and almost got PLOWED by a huge semi snow plow! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We lived another day and all for the sake of Instagram. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
