Monochrome, The Festival of Ugly Music, returns to Bristol, 11-12 April 2025.

Once again, Monochrome presents a defiantly uncompromising programme that puts extreme metal and abrasive experimental music in the same room, gaffer tapes the door shut and asks them to play nicely.

Now expanded into a 2 day event, Monochrome will open on Friday 11th April at the Moor Brewery. Increasingly the venue of choice for Bristol’s DIY scene, Moor is the perfect place to cut the ribbon on a weekend of sonic excess.

On Saturday 12th, we return to Strange Brew for a full day of relentless back-2-back ugliness across 2 stages, before retiring to The Gryphon for a nightcap / to dance to gnarly music until 3am (delete as appropriate).

We're back!

Now officially a 2 day festival - we'll be kicking off with a stacked lineup at Moor Beer on the Friday evening, followed by a relentless day of back-2-back ugliness at Strange Brew, and afters at The Gryphon.

With Monochrome starting in exactly 2 months, it's time to announce the last handful of acts for 2024.

First up we're delighted to be hosting a very rare UK performance from Gnaw Their Tongues. Fusing noise, industrial and black metal, GTT are quite simply the Netherlands' ugliest export.

Paris' Cavalerie will bring their raw and abrasive take on hardcore crust, infused with old-school black metal sensibilities.

Opening the festival we have back to back sets from 2 of Brighton's finest: noise rockers Human Leather and weirdo grinders Mister Lizard.

Unfortunately, Gravpel can no longer make it. Maybe next time!
