Such a relaxing and mellow way to start off the New Year!
This happened at the end of our ride yesterday. I caught the movement off to our right out of the corner of my eye expecting a pack of dogs. Surprise! Guess I've been riding the canals to long!
If you're thinking of riding the Apache Trail check out this video first. I shot this on a Tuesday, weekends are probably worse. They are paving it in sections so you'll be constantly alternating between pavement and dirt. Weekdays suck with all the construction but the constant parade of water trucks helps keep the dust down. With the added volume of motor vehicles on the weekend and no water trucks it must be horrible. We rode 18 miles in from Windy Point on Roosevelt Lake to the Apache Lake Resort so we didn't see the newly opened section through Fish Creek but there was a stream of ATV's coming from that direction.
In my opinion it went from one of the best bike rides in the state to the worst. I'll be removing this ride from https://azgravelrides.com/arizonas-best-gravel-road-routes/
Seems like almost every day this herd of antelope crosses in front of me at the exact same spot. There must be about 30 of them.

This video is from last May's Ride Across Arizona. It's the first time we did it on e-bikes. We started from Topock on the Cali border on May 6th at 6AM and made it to the Blue on the New Mexico border by Saturday afternoon. We only spent 54 hours of those six days riding the bikes, the rest of the time we spent camping and exploring the many cool places along the route like the AZ Route 66 towns (Seligman, Williams and Flagstaff), the Mogollon Rim country and finishing up through the White Mountains and into the Blue Primitive area. No better way to experience the sights, sounds, places and people of Arizona.
Our next ride will be the Ride the Arizona Divide, a 430 mile loop exploring the rivers, streams and lakes that make up the Arizona Divide. If you're interested in joining the ride check it out.

Daily training ride: Fun little stretch of singletrack before I jump on the Iron King for that final push home.
Super stoked to be heading over to New Mexico for a few days this week to ride in Catron County.
USE THE CODE AZGRAVEL FOR 20% OFF ANY REDSHIFT PRODUCT!
Redshift Sports has come out with a new suspension seatpost, the Shockstop Pro Endurance Seatpost. We've used Redshift suspension seatposts for the last four years on the 620 mile Ride Across Arizona. Over 80% of the course is unpaved, everything from crossing the Mojave and Saguaro deserts to the high mountain passes - from the Cali border to New Mexico. The course is brutal making for an excellent test for any offroad product. Redshift products rock, no manitenace and never an issue. Add a suspension stem and any bike becomes full suspension.
Go further! Ride faster! Watch the video as I overtake a five engine train along Transcon and then later in the trip blast up Green's Peak (elevation 9600 feet) in the White Mountains.
