Daily training ride: Fun little stretch of singletrack before I jump on the Iron King for that final push home.
Super stoked to be heading over to New Mexico for a few days this week to ride in Catron County.
USE THE CODE AZGRAVEL FOR 20% OFF ANY REDSHIFT PRODUCT!
Redshift Sports has come out with a new suspension seatpost, the Shockstop Pro Endurance Seatpost. We've used Redshift suspension seatposts for the last four years on the 620 mile Ride Across Arizona. Over 80% of the course is unpaved, everything from crossing the Mojave and Saguaro deserts to the high mountain passes - from the Cali border to New Mexico. The course is brutal making for an excellent test for any offroad product. Redshift products rock, no manitenace and never an issue. Add a suspension stem and any bike becomes full suspension.
Go further! Ride faster! Watch the video as I overtake a five engine train along Transcon and then later in the trip blast up Green's Peak (elevation 9600 feet) in the White Mountains.

Climbing the notorious 17 Mile Road. Day one of this years Ride Across Arizona and it didn't get any easier after this.
These aren't the steepest hills in this section. No way I'm driving one handed with a camera out the window. Them bad boys are steep even in a truck with limited slip!
So far on our attempt to Ride Across Arizona on a couple of entry level e-bikes we've made it over 400 miles to Forest Lakes in five days. Had a few close calls along the way like this one where Minnie was descending into Williams.
Thanks to our sponsors McDowell Mountain Cycles and Redshift Sports!
Part 3 of the Ride the Arizona Divide video covers the 90 mile section between Luna New Mexico and St Johns Arizona. The majority of the route follows Bill Knight Gap Road and Stateline Road crossing the state border several times. Statline Road actually straddles the official state line for 2.5 miles. This is the most remote section of the entire Ride the Arizona Divide route. The scenery is awesome!

We'll be doing a lot more overlanding in 2024. We take turns between driving the truck and riding the bike. This gives us the ability to explore large areas each day and since we carry everything we need we can stop and camp anywhere. No need to plan to reach a certain town or campground. It's also one hell of a challenge, both mentally and physically.
You don't need a four wheel drive either. We've done all the route exploring for both the 600 mile Ride Across Arizona and the 450 mile Ride the Arizona Divide in our 2WD Nissan Frontier. If we get into an area that gets a bit sketchy for two wheel drive the person riding the bike can go ahead and scout the road.
This video (shot from inside the Nissan) is from the 450 mile Ride the Arizona Divide. That night we ended up camping at Luna Lake Campground. This was the last week of September, we had the entire campground to ourselves, only the host was there. Later that night while sitting around the fire we were lucky enough to hear the howls of the local wolfpack off in the distance. Great times!

Review of 2023 in photos!
Drought ending storms, floods, reroutes of Ride Across Arizona because of deep snow, exploring new places, making new friends...2023 was awesome! Looking forward to 2024!
