Recently took a family reunion trip to Pensacola and took family pictures while there. The night we did family pictures their kids were having a rough time and they didn’t get any photos with just the two of them. We got to sneak away for a few minutes a couple nights later and some of my photographer dreams came true. We just messed around and played and laughed so much and I just love how the photos turned out! Now someone else in the family needs to become a photographer because I need photos like these with my hubs!😍🤣

Last weekend was a whirlwind! Took a quick trip back to St. Louis for some mini sessions, to see old friends, and to let my daughter have an amazing couple days with her best friend! Sharing a few of the sneak peeks I sent out! I adore these families! Can’t wait to finish their sessions! Was also extra fun because I just replaced my favorite (but 5 year old) lens with a brand new one! It did not disappoint! 🎉😍

Smallwood homes print review😍

I finally pulled the trigger and purchased a print. I’ve been wanting one forever!

My husband needed a cute print of the kids for his office so a few weeks ago I bribed the pants off of them and did some cute photos on the bed! I had a VISION of what I wanted…and I *mostly* got it! 🎉 🤣

We debated a big canvas vs print and ultimately I won 😉 (Crossing my fingers it looks good in the office🤞🏻 we’ll see!)

It came last night while I was out pickleballing 💪🏻🤣 and of course my husband didn’t even tell me! He didn’t realize how exciting of a thing this was for me I guess? 🤣

As I laid down to go to bed last night I saw it nonchalantly leaned against the wall in our room.

Of course I had to rip the package open right away and behold it with my own eyes 😍🤪 ….and then subsequently do a photoshoot with it 🙈 (when YOUR photo YOU took gets printed so BIG, of course you take a photo of you with it! ☺️😅)

Okay, so do I love it? Here’s the photog mom’s review ✨

1️⃣I thought it would be heavier weight. It was actually pretty lightweight. But for hanging, that has huge benefits so I say it’s a plus.

2️⃣Print quality was perfection! They have a cool texture to them. Close up it makes my eyes do tricks, but scoot a little further back like you do to look at photos and the quality of print and look was BEAUTIFUL.

3️⃣ The frame: I think shipping loosened the pic a little bit, either that or the assembler didn’t tighten it enough (I’ll give people the benefit of the doubt), so when it came, I did have to tighten the little metal holders to secure the pic which was very simple.
And only a couple points taken away for one corner seam on the frame that didn’t match up perfectly. (Easier to see with a black frame, but stained I wouldn’t have noticed).

Overall…would highly recommend😍 Now I’m looking at all the places in my home I can put some of these 🎉☺️

And seeing my work printed on them makes me want to see more of it printed, so FYI past clients, this girl LOVES getting tags or DM’s of photos of her work PRINTED 😍 …just sayin 😏😉

Here we are again!! Another move, another time building my business from the ground up. New friends to meet, love, and serve...and to capture beauty and magic with!

Over the past year, I've deeply considered giving up this whole photography gig for a little bit. Why build it up again? Now that my husband is finally out of school and we started this new phase of “non student” life after 10 years of marriage, I don’t technically have to work. Before it made a huge difference for my family financially but now…why continue? I have two littles at home that keep me busy enough. I have the constantly messy house to prove it. ;)

As I’ve sat with it…and taken some time just for me…I’ve realized the most beautiful things about doing photography…which I’m not ready to give up yet…aren’t tangible. 

Creation.

Connection.

Purpose.

Beauty.

Presentness.

It was all the people I was blessed to meet through it. Being ever aware of the natural beauty around me…the gift of light…the beautiful contrast of darkness. Helping other aspiring photographers grow confidence and watching them flourish.

It’s been a gift. 

So no…as I face the possibility of ending this journey…I just can't... quite... let it go. I’m not ready. 

That said, it may begin to look a little different than I've done it in the past. My position has changed and so has my purpose. An opportunity to use my time, experience, talents, and hopes to help and serve,  inspire and teach, capture and create, and forever see the magic of connection and the gift and power of light all around. 

Carlsbad people. This may be a funny post to announce mini sessions with. 

All my people. This may be a just an out there in left field post too, haha. 

But...as I'm finishing writing this, I'm realizing, it may be more for me than for you .

And as I say to a lot of my close friends….I just really appreciate the beauty that comes from the bumps.  So bring on the learning and growing bumps. Because I know there's a whole ton of beauty just around the corner.

Happy 3 year anniversary to these two! It's an easy one for me to remember, because 3 years and a month ago I gave birth to my son!  👶🏼

I was worried about what it would look like shooting a wedding only 4 weeks after giving birth, but thank goodness my little boy was an easy delivery, unlike my first!  😳

I could barely squeeze on my largest  pair of dress pants, haha, because that pregnancy weight was real, and I still remember sneaking away during the reception to pump after pushing it way too long (IYKYK) while my second took over.😅  

That mom photographer hustle is real. But also.....gosh, did I need a day away to do my own thing! It was so nice to get a glimpse of the old me again and create…and especially to spend it with these two!

Still blows my mind every time I'm tagged in posts from my brides, just how much time has passed. Every single one of my brides holds a special place in my heart and the most beautiful of memories 💛.

It's hard not to fall in love with the people while you photograph such beautiful moments for them. 

Happy anniversary Teddy and Maria! Literally some of the sweetest people I know!

Some of the sweetest moments happen when they forget that their “supposed to pose”😍.

I shared a graphic in my stories last week that said, “the best way to look good in photos is to enjoy yourself”. Loved that, when it comes to family photos! We just did our own family photos a couple weeks ago and I had my husband practice with me, slow dancing and snuggling in the kitchen the week leading up to them. Idk if it was that or his years or photo session practice finally adding up but this last session went the best it’s ever gone. We were both so relaxed, and just tried to enjoy it and enjoy our little ones❤️

Love this photo of .carlisle.young and her little guy! So excited to capture more beautiful moments like this, this Fall! My AZ signups went out yesterday and I have 24 families lined up over the course of 4 days! 😱😍🎉 It’s going to be amazing! And okay STL, you’re next!! Signups go live Monday at noon!! Did a little sunflower session swap with a favorite photographer friend! Fun fact, moved here from Arizona too just a year in a half after us! Our kids had a blast playing with each other between taking photos! And everyone’s favorite part? the surprise free scoops of frozen custard included in tickets! Thanks Alyssa! A little wedding day sneak peek! When your cousin marries your best friend from high school's little sister....wow, what an extra special day capturing this for them and spending time with so many people I love! Congratulations Ambria and Andrew! Love you two!! Tucson tried to pull a fast one on us with all the rain, but we survived, and actually, after seeing the pics, I'm so happy it worked out this way!! Also...I guess this means I'm finally kind of sort of related to the Quinlan clan! Finally, haha ;)
