Summer is finally here! Which means I’m feeling all the pressure to entertain my kids. And while I strongly believe that it ISN’T my responsibility to do that I do think it’s fun to start the summer off with something a little extra special. This summer we have some water balloons and sponges and a PLAN for some fun games after the last day of school. We also have a few fun snack ideas that I’ll try to show you this week. Are your schools out or are you still waiting for summer to officially begin? It’s crazy to me how all over the place school end dates are.

I tried to be a more flexible person so I let my child pick what kind of candy he wanted to give for Valentine’s Day. He chose ring pops. So this is what I came up with. Have you played “Don’t Eat Pete”? It was a staple in our house growing up. So I made this game board to play for an elementary school party. A game that involves candy and yelling? That’s a definite yes for most kids.

The rules are simple: Place a piece of candy in each square. Send the first person out of the room while the rest of the players choose which square will be “Pete”. Then the first person comes back into the room and starts eating the candy one piece at a time, trying not to eat “Pete”. When the player picks up “Pete” everyone else yells, “Don’t eat Pete!”

Are you watching the Harry Potter Reunion thing? Confession: I’m a huge Harry Potter nerd and I have zero desire to watch it. I’m not sure why. What about you?

These are photos from a Harry Potter party I had months ago but I got busy wrangling a bunch of third graders and basically forgot to take pictures.

I need a professional photographer to follow me around because I am awful at remembering to photograph anything. Or I could just invite because she is amazing at it.

Enjoy this Valentine’s Day with a family candle lit dinner. My kids love this tradition because - fire. They always insist on turning out all the lights. We go all out with our fancy China and a fancy meal but they would love it just as much if it was Little Caesar’s or dinosaur chicken nuggets.

We are going to be launching a limited amount of boxes for our subscription holiday celebration box on January 6! The Valentine’s boxes will be sent out on January 15 or whenever you subscribe after January 15. The Valentine’s Box will have everything you need to have a fun, candlelit dinner with your family.

Minecraft birthday party! The sparklers on the cake were a big hit as was the party game. I bought a Minecraft scavenger hunt online. It involved using the ingredients they found to make different things just like they do in real Minecraft. I have never been bored at a child’s party before but because of that game I didn’t know what to do with myself while they glued and traded.

A hot cocoa bar is such a fun activity with kids. They love to be in charge of things and with this they get to be in charge of their hot cocoa. We give this is an activity the first Friday in December along with their pajamas.

Two days in to December I finally got it together to make my activity advent calendar activities. The activities are mostly very chill but my kids love it so much. What are some super easy activities you would put in your activity advent calendar? My favorite might be eat a candy cane. 😆

Our December boxes have been sent out! Every year we do a first Christmas present of the season but it’s always pajamas. That way I get more time out of their Christmas jammies. But my kids would always be super disappointed that they were just CLOTHES. So I started giving my kids a hot cocoa party in a box as part of their first present of the season. It makes them much happier with the experience, they happily put on their pajamas for the party and they love putting all the mix-ins and toppings in their hot cocoa.

We did a fun soda testing tonight. We picked up some random fun bottled sodas on a whim at the store. Then I googled around and found did a post where she did a taste off. Ours was just our family and much less intense but still fun. Google for her post about her birthday dinner and taste off. She has a link for free printables to do your own taste off. And in case you were wondering the Abita Rootbeer won by a landslide.
