Fourteen years ago this was all crazy dream.

This was a muddy, murky dumping ground behind the barn.
I would be mortified if any guests looked out there.
It was an unsightly mess.
There was a manure shed, complete with manure!
A potbelly pig, and a large fuel tank.

But there was this beautiful tree and spectacular views, and I envisioned a giant chess board, and stone steps on a great lawn.

My favorite saying is, “You have to start to finish.”

If you’re on the fence about starting something new, How will you know unless you try?

So just dream that CRAZY DREAM!

We lost a good man this week.
We lost our Tommy.

Tom Wendling was our valued and respected employee.
He was part of our team, but more importantly he was our friend.

Tommy worked at Rivercrest Farm for over 20 years.
In fact, Tommy was here before Rivercrest was Rivercrest.

He was a character, and anyone that met him would never forget him.
He overcame a difficult childhood where he was often bullied, dismissed and ignored.

Amazingly, against all odds, he grew into a man that would help anyone, with kindness and grace.
He would have done anything for us, for my family, and anyone that visited Rivercrest Farm.

If you had paid attention, you would know he was one of the smartest guys around.
He had street-smarts, he had farm-smarts, and he was book smart.
He loved Zombies and Harry Potter, movies and little toy soldiers.

Tommy also loved all the animals… you could often see him leading the donkeys like the Pied Piper,calling out in a sing-song voice, “Come on my babies, come on!”
His cattle calls were legendary and would bring the whole herd a running.
We even dyed our Great Pyrenees gray so he could be Fang to Tommy’s Hagrid.

Tommy was a gentle giant that died quietly just as he had lived quietly.

And we are blinded with sadness.

Let’s hear it for our guys.

The men don’t always get the kudos they deserve on wedding day.
I mean, how many pictures of cuff links and shiny shoes does one need?

But Josh nailed it on his wedding day.
He found my secret little haven.
My hideaway.
The room the introvert in me most wants to escape to with a good book and a glass of wine.
A chesterfield loveseat and a great mirror.
What else could you possibly need?
And there’s even an elegant little bathroom nearby.

If you need me, this is where you’re likely to find me.
Curled up under a soft blanket.
Napping!

Miss Ingrid Auest Beech is magically FOUR. Let’s give a shout out to the talented photographers and videographers that turn our moments into magical memories. I learned a long time ago that it’s never a good idea to try to be everything at every party. Delegate! Whether it’s a wedding or a birthday party…. If you want great photos of a major milestone! Hire the best! When my kids were little, I threw killer extravaganza parties: Pirate parties, magical tea parties with a horse and carriage, teddy bear picnics. You name it we did it. Is anyone surprised at this? I was a photographer by trade- and had all the equipment. I’d start out great- someone would need me, I’d squirrel and get sidetracked, put my camera down, never to be seen again until the party was over! Resulting in no pictures of these fabulous parties! So this is a shout out to @benschnellproductions and Le Petit Pamplemousse Party Company.
