If I had to choose between lower and upper Antelope Canyon, I would choose lower. While it is not as accessible as upper, it is three times as long, and I felt it had beautiful angles and colors wherever I looked. I had asked the guide if he would recommend the best spots to take photos and he responded that there were no bad spots. And he was absolutely right. I honestly couldn't stop taking photos because if you moved one way or another, the scene seemed to change and transform into something else otherworldly.

Upper Antelope Canyon is known for its light beams during certain times of the day. Even though I visited during these "peak sunlight" times, I only saw one beam of light that remained for only a few seconds before disappearing. However, what I found striking about this part of Antelope Canyon was the striking contrast of colors. These images are not edited - the striations and curves of the canyon truly looked this dark and this blue to the naked eye and it was beautiful and different and unexpected.

We did a sunrise wildflower session with the sweetest of families Easter weekend. The bluebonnets and Indian paintbrush were out in abundance at a local park. It was a great day for photos!

Muleshoe Bend never fails to disappoint when it comes to seeing fields of bluebonnets. It has been my favorite location for taking pictures since I first heard of it. I almost didn't go this year because driving an hour and a half with a little one seems more complicated than before we had a kid. But Micah was cooperative and was enthralled with the flowers. I had to bribe him with a rock and a measuring spoon but you take what you can get at this age haha.

A bucket-list item checked off: seeing the Yoshino cherry blossoms in bloom around the tidal basin in Washington D.C. It was cold and rainy when we first arrived and after scouring the internet for updates if the petals would be still there when the skies cleared, I was pleasantly surprised at their beauty, even though we were visiting a week after peak bloom. The trees were puffy and full like pale pink clouds with little petals that rained down with a rough wind like tiny pieces of heaven.

The massive monoliths and towering walls of Park Avenue at Arches National Park. Named as such because it reminded people of walking down a busy street with large skyscrapers. If you look closely, the striations in the rock that look like swirling scratches are made by the air currents that flow up and around the canyon.

Partition Arch was my second favorite Arch. It required more of a hike than the other arches, and my timing with the sun may have not been the best, but it was so massive and being able to walk under and through it by myself felt like a special moment.

Balanced Rock, one of the first stops on your roundtrip through Arches National Park, is quite an astonishing act of balance. It may not look like it from here, and I feel only understood when you're close up in person, but the rock is huge and only held up by what looks like not very much. Also, this picture features the snowy La Sal mountain range in the background.

If you're planning a trip to Orlando, Florida, your destinations might focus on the theme parks in the area. But surprisingly, there are many natural springs in the area as well. During the winter, these springs often fill with hundreds of manatees. We visited when manatees weren't in the area, but Rock Springs Run was a beautiful clear turquoise spring where you could take your inner tubes and tube down the river. The only downside was how short the run was. You could go farther, but you'd run the risk of running into alligators and we definitely weren't willing to take that risk.

The short film I directed and wrote, Lockdown, was selected for screening at the Lift-Off Global Network First-Time Filmmakers Session for 2024. Lockdown is about a young woman in an emotionally abusive relationship with her boyfriend that worsens during the COVID-19 pandemic. She goes for runs in the woods behind her apartment as an escape...when one day, she realizes that she is being followed. But by who?

I hiked to landscape arch for sunrise and I was the only one on the hike for a couple of hours, which made me a little nervous, but since the hike was pretty level and didn't feel dangerous, I felt okay about hiking solo. I wouldn't necessarily hike to see landscape arch for sunrise unless you'd want to avoid people on the hike, as I don't think it looked particularly different at sunrise or later in the day, but it was pretty amazing seeing how this arch could still survive despite how thin the rock is. Unfortunately, for obvious reasons, we can't get up close to this particular arch.

These Ute Indian petroglyphs in Arches National Park were just a short ten minute offshoot from the main trail to Delicate Arches and the detail and preservation was amazing. There was a limit to how close you could get but even with the required distance they were still so clear. Estimated to have been created around the mid-1600s as they feature bighorn sheep and horses, yes, they aren't fakes and absolutely real.

Double arch, not to be confused with double o arch, was I think my favorite arch of the park, after delicate arch. It only had a 20 min hike to get here and you could see it from the parking lot. However, I'd highly recommend actually walking as close as possible to it as it is spectacular and the size is hard to comprehend without actually standing under it. Note that the trailhead is at the same parking lot as the windows but the opposite direction from the windows.

When looking for places to visit in Utah along my road trip between Salt Lake City and Moab, Fifth Water Hot Springs came up in my search. And while I had in my research discovered that the road to the trailhead would be closed in the winter, I thought it would still be a fun and unique experience. It ended up being 7.5 miles round trip with slippery ice along the path (if I didn't have my microspikes, I would've turned right around) and it definitely took some effort to get to the springs. But when the river along the trail begin to change to a teal blue and the smell of sulphur was in the air I knew I was close. And once I'd made it, it was absolutely breathtaking. There were a few people coming in and out but I got a pool all to myself and it was warm and refreshing after such a long hike. And then I had to figure out how to change out of my wet clothes and back into dry clothes and then walk back along the trail in the dark, but it was totally worth it.

Courthouse towers were some of the stone structures I first saw coming into Arches National Park. And their height and grandeur immediately made an impression on me. The play on shadows and how easily they change just with a small bit of time made for interesting views and I wondered what this would look like at noon instead of near sunset. And I realized that I could probably come back to this park many times over different seasons, different days, different weather, and the alien landscape would transform into different, varying worlds each time.

I arrived in Arches National Park around 3pm and the sun was supposed to set at 4:47. The hike would take me about an hour to reach the commonly recognized delicate arch. I could wait until the morning to hike it, or risk hiking back after sunset in the dark. I decided to go for it, and just as I turned the corner before reaching my hiking and photography goal for the day, the sun illuminated the red rocks at just the right point where I was able to take this and a few other quick photos. And then within maybe two minutes, the sun dipped below the horizon, and just like that, the magic of the sun dispersed. The rocks were still a splendid thing to behold, so much larger in life than what photos can convey. I and maybe twenty others were there, watching the sun fade and the colors as reflected against delicate arch change and transform from warm to cold. But it felt as if I had the space all to myself. A far cry to the hundreds to thousands of people that flock the area in the summer months. And yes, I did end up having to hike back in the dark, but so was everyone else, so I wasn't really alone and I was glad of my good luck.
