When Should You Elope In Death Valley?
We recommend visiting after Thanksgiving, but before Christmas (that late November/early December sweet spot). This is when Death Valley National Park experiences the least amount of visitors. Plus, the weather is absolutely amazing!

Winter is a beautiful season to plan your adventure elopement in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. While winter might bring a few extra “challenges,” there is just something magical about a winter elopement. You’ll need to be more prepared, but one thing is for sure: you’ll have an adventure-filled experience.

You might be asking yourself, ok, but why should I elope in the winter? Beyond the magical winter wonderland that the Eastern Sierras offer this time of year, let’s talk about a few other reasons…

🌲Everything is less crowded during a winter elopement crowded. Many people don’t like the cold, so if you love it, winter is the perfect time to elope.

Ask yourselves, what are the parts of the day you’re most excited about? Could it be sharing breakfast together? Seeing each for the first time in your wedding clothes? Walking down the aisle? (In whatever form the aisle takes) Spending the day with close family and friends?

🏞️ Pick A Stunning Location That Speaks To You
If it’s adventure you’re going for, choose a wedding venue with its own natural beauty. Ski resorts and back-country lodges are great choices, especially if they have access to mountain hiking trails.

The Sonora Pass is a staggering 9,624 feet above sea level, and makes a fantastic elopement destination. Also known as California Highway 108, crosses Sonora Pass on the second highest mountain highway in the Sierra Nevada Mountains.

You’ll want to travel this beautiful, narrow and winding road to see some of the most spectacular views and get to your elopement destination. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, we think nature makes the best cathedrals.

To get to this one we had to squeeze through on our hands and knees, with light stands in tow. But we were greeted with a chamber and the perfect beam of light. We played around in it, stirring up dust, and using Andrew’s white shirt as a human reflector. Eventually, the sun’s angle was too low and it disappeared completely. It made it even more special.

We are so lucky to call this place home *heart eyes*

In our opinion, the best thing about eloping in the Sierra Nevadas is the gorgeous outdoor locations. You can choose from deserts, mountains, hot springs, and incredible scenery around every corner. It can be challenging to choose a spot to say your vows when beautiful options surround you, but we’ve got some inspiration for you.

This area is one of our absolute favorite northern California elopement destinations. One of our favorite parts - the options here are limitless! There is no shortage of free campsites, hiking trails, jeep trails and forest service roads.

“We couldn’t find a venue as gorgeous or homey as our favorite travel spot.” We love incorporating your favorite spot OR a destination you’ve always wanted to travel to in your elopement day!

“Personally, we think a lot of what you pay for on a wedding day is for other people.” This is absolutely true, and if that’s not something that feels authentic to you - we understand.

“Our family situation is a bit crazy.” We understand this is difficult to navigate, particularly when the family situations aren’t the best. If eloping just to two of you makes more sense - we are here for it *clap*
