The Micro Wedding
Since the pandemic has taken over our lives, things are being done a bit differently in the event and wedding industry. Although indoor weddings/events (*depending on where you live) are being allowed in some areas, many couples are choosing to have a smaller more intimate wedding, or as we like to call it, the micro wedding. Some ideas to help keep your guests safe and also have a fun enjoyable experience:
The Welcome box – a new trend this year, many are giving out a small gift like box containing a number of safety/PPE items with treats and favors. This may include a mask with guests name, hand sanitizer, favors, and individually packed chocolates, candy etc.
The outdoor wedding – A very popular choice as it is still one of the safest options
Pod seating arrangements – depending on the space you have to work with, you may choose to sit each family or “pod” together.
The sit down – Although already a popular choice, many are ditching the buffet for safety reasons and going with a sit down event. Yes sadly this may mean eliminating the cocktail hour as we know it.
The micro cake – Another trend that is becoming increasingly popular is the micro wedding cake. Many couples are ditching the big wedding cake and opting for individual sized cakes to be given to each guest.
Many of these trends may remain around well after the pandemic, although I do hope for a day without masks (and a return of a traditional cocktail hour!).
Happy and Safe Planning!
Yours,
Laura
