I am a member of the Modern Ministers Association of Canada, but am currently living in New Zealand/Aotearoa and I am absolutely privileged to call this place home for the next while. I began officiating weddings in 2006, after a good friend asked me if I could marry her and her partner. I went on to legally officiate hundreds of wedding ceremonies on Vancouver Island, Canada. Officiating and coor

dinating ceremonies has been tremendously meaningful to me, and though I cannot (yet) legally preside over weddings in NZ, I am still offering non-legal commitment ceremonies, vow renewals, and marriage preparation coaching to couples. My absolute favourite part of doing this work is getting to know each couple and their love story in order to add a personal (and often humorous) touch. I would be honoured to work with you to created your personalized and customized ceremony!

The happiness trap is something we’re conditioned to believe since childhood.

That someone can and should make us happy. And that happiness is the goal in relationships.

The truth is life has many moments where we aren’t happy. We go through seasons and changes. There’s times of celebration and joy and times of crisis and suffering.

In partnerships where there is trust and admiration there were plenty of periods where there wasn’t happiness. These partners had the resilience and nervous system capacity to stay connected, to get through the discomfort, and to continue to choose each other in action— even when it didn’t *feel* good.

What we should learn as children is: find a partner that allows you to feel safe. Who truly allows you to be yourself. Who reminds you of who you are, lets you be in a mood, accepts when you’re not your best self, but holds you accountable to becoming that person

Sweet because of the reason why… I got accepted into a PhD program at the University of Auckland so I’ll be moving to New Zealand this fall!!!

For those of you who know me, I’ve been planning this for seemingly ever and I am so stoked it’s finally happening!

Story of Imagine Weddings

Hi, I am Chris-Ann, aka Charlie. I live and work in Victoria, the unceded Coast Salish Territory of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ nations, and I am absolutely honoured to call this place home.

In 2007 I created Imagine Weddings after obtaining my bridal consultant diploma, and since then I have had the privilege to oversee hundreds of wedding ceremonies all over Vancouver Island.

To officiate the ceremonies I also help coordinate, is honestly just a lot of fun. And because of all my experience I am comfortable with any type of ceremony; traditional, spiritual, interfaith, non-spiritual, or same gender. I have done and enjoyed doing them all. I have performed large elaborate church ceremonies with hundreds of guests, as well as small intimate ceremonies that included me marrying one of my best friends in my own backyard.
