Hot tip 💡

Do the majority of your bridal party and family photos BEFORE the ceremony.
Why?

👉🏼 You’ll be at your freshest and can pump them out faster, without the humidity of the day causing impatience
👉🏼 Children are (generally) more compliant and easy to manage
👉🏼 It’s more comfortable for those who are older
👉🏼 You’re able to get a bunch of photos done, meaning less to get through post-ceremony
👉🏼 Less photos needed after the ceremony means you get to head to cocktail hour faster and enjoy the day with your loved ones!

Tradition doesn’t need to be left out, but you can modify it to suit your day no matter where you tie the knot!

The best thing about having a destination wedding? You get to use your chosen country as the backdrop to your big day!

The reason so many couples choose an overseas destination is because that place holds a special place for them. You’ll find that those who marry outside their home country will rely on the destination country’s natural surroundings to act as the major element to their big day, highlighting it and making it the theme for their wedding.

In doing this you’re able to save on decor costs and let the photos speak for themselves 😍

Hi all!!

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet on here!

I’m currently in Ras Al Khaima for the 14th edition of and wow, as usual it has not disappointed!

I absolutely love these conferences and so happy to be invited. I learn so much and make so many incredible industry friends.

Personally, I think it’s crucial to keep learning amongst my peers worldwide to ensure that I’m not only maintaining the same global standards to all my clients, but to absorb, develop and grow in other areas so that .destinationevents can provide everyone with only the best experience - both for clients and to all my work colleagues.

I think if you ever feel like you know everything or there’s no more room to learn or grow, you probably shouldn’t be doing what you do anymore.

As many of you know - and tease me about haha - I never ever stop working.
And whenever I’m in the United Emirates, something takes over me and my mind and soul fills with so many ideas and concepts to play with when I get back to Bali.

I’m feeling so inspired and I cannot wait to implement the new structures I’ve learnt about to help my incredible team constantly improve, and to introduce the plethora of new services and ideas I’ve been working on whilst away to all my clients which I just know will elevate their overall experiences.

Silly me forgot to put forward .destinationevents as a nominee for the awards night when they asked me to, but I won’t forget next time!

Take time out for just the two of you.

With so much going on…loved ones wanting your time, the decor and styling you planned all year come to life, the music setting the vibe…it’s easy to get swept away on the day. Easy to not see your partner apart from when you finally sit for dinner then again when you head to bed.

So I promise you, taking some time for just you and your partner away from the festivities to be together and soak it all in from afar will be something you cherish and and look back on as something you are glad you did.

If you want bright and bold, stick with it and follow it through.

If you are into classics and don’t want to steer away from whites and greens, don’t.

It might seem like simple advice, but I see so many couples who doubt their initial choices midway through planning based on trends.

Trends come and go, and while it’s normal to update or modify your direction during the planning process, totally switching up based on a trend that won’t last more than 6-12 months will only have you regretting it in the long run.

Stay true to yourselves and you’ll always looking back with happy memories.

You want the best of the best in their field to execute your day the way you want it to roll out.

Every vendor will have their specialities and what they have become known for so while there are many who are 10/10, you need to know which one to choose that fits YOUR brief.

The florist who understands your floral vision.
The band who knows how to get everyone of all ages up on the dance floor.
The bar who knows the moments to refill everyone’s glasses for toasts.

When you have the best teams backing you, the day and night will always be seamless 👌🏼

So you want to incorporate fruit or vegetables onto your table scape. That’s fun! But being that Bali is in the tropics, here are my tips on selecting the variety properly.

1. Don’t use overly sweet, cut up fruits. The aroma will attract fruit flies and mosquitoes which doesn’t make for an ideal dining experience and won’t look good in photos.

2. If you do want to use berries and sweet tropical fruits, keep them whole so they’re less likely to attract bugs and ants. Or, if you do want to cut them up, use them for a separate centrepiece in your signage rather than on the table.

3. The heat ripens fruit and vegetables at a super speed rate so ensure what you’re choosing aren’t fully mature yet. At the end of the day they’re being used as decor not extra food for your guests to eat.

4. Whole fruits and vegetables, like grapes, eggplants, and citrus fruits work best for this climate. Dried coconuts are perfect too as are other hard/thick skinned fruits.

5. Leaving your table to be set at the last possible moment means less time in direct heat and less possibilities for the centrepieces to explode from ripeness.

There are never limits when it comes to planning your day, just modifications so that you can have the day you envision!

They say less is more.

But sometimes MORE is more.

This breathtaking cocoon of hanging wisteria over the couples vows was just one of TWO wedding arbors they had for their big day.
One to walk through on the bride’s entry, and one to stand under in this sacred moment.

When planning your wedding, make sure you choose a planner who understands what YOU want. Sees the couple that YOU are and compliments your vision rather than try steer you in another way.
So yes, I do encourage you to shop around until you click with The One! Once you find them, let the others know you won’t be going ahead with them and then start the fun part of planning for your special day with your chosen planner.

While suggestions and ideas are all part of brainstorming and planning process, it’s our job as planners to primarily listen, find a way to make your dream possible, and execute so that it is exactly - if not better - than you imagined.

There are so many affordable ways to elevate your table setting to set it apart.

Something as simple as hiring napkins to use instead of the standard white given by catering companies can tie in the theme colours of your day without breaking the bank.

Opting for classic whites? Keep the napkins and perhaps invest in chargers to add contrast between the plate and the table.

You’ll often find that when you go off for photos during cocktail hour, and before dinner, you’ll end up with some stunning shots just due to the lighting, the tropical surroundings and the fact it’s just the two of you with nothing and no one else in the background to distract in the photo.

You may also find, that the best shots are not even at the locations you’ve asked for or have been suggested to use, but they’re shot candidly, stealthily, when you’re not posing, walking from one point to the next.

This photo for me speaks volumes. The bride’s happiness glowing from inside out, not just because it’s her big day, but because she’s looking at the man she’s sharing this day with and they’re exchanging secrets through their eyes that only they understand.
