Happy release day to Boston’s - their sophomore record “Rememory” is out now across all platforms, and is also available physically via and // this instrumental duo has a strikingly strong grasp on sound design/production and dramatic/emotional substance. What they’re presenting on this record sonically far exceeds what one would typically expect from a small independent artist. The album is six tracks, but flows together as one extended concept, creating a vivid and vibrant space for the listener to inhabit as they explore its many delicate and dynamic layers. The Pittsburgh post-emo band Frame and Mantle just released their new EP "Above A Burning World" this past Friday. The follow-up to their 2019 LP "Lost Under Nighttime Sky," these three songs act as a counterpart, reflecting the many changes and adaptations that have transpired in the nearly four years since that album's release. It contends with feelings of uncertainty, stagnation, and melancholy, providing a foil for Nighttime Sky's brighter tone, but also acting as an outlet for the band to re-stoke their creative fires and express themselves musically again. The Boston duo It Was a Good Dream just premiered "Drawing Your Recurve," the first single from their upcoming new album "Rememory." Everything Is Noise has the exclusive stream right now, and the track will be more widely released on other platforms this Friday. Like their last album, "Rememory" will be released by Dunk!records, and anyone who was at dunk!fest this year can confirm that IWAGD came out as one of the most memorable acts of the weekend.

Viewfinder is a "new old" band from Denver - they spent the past ten years under the name Bridges Will Break, and just went through a re-branding process for their upcoming album "Voices Echo." "Luster" is the opening track and lead single, and is being premiered now at Everything Is Noise. The band stands at the crossroads of emo, shoegaze, and post-rock, blending confessional vocals with an airy, expansive compositional style, while skillfully retaining the immediacy of the three-minute pop-friendly song structures. The Austin experimental/instrumental post-rock band my education has been around since the original formative years of what we now think of as post-rock - contemporaries of bands like Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tortoise, and Explosions in the Sky. They're releasing their 9th studio album, "EMKA," October 14th, and Veil of Sound has the premiere of the first single and title track. It's accompanied by a great write-up that covers everything from the band's back story both in origin and in recent years, the production details for the new record, bands they've shared the stage with over the years, their involvement across multiple types of art and media, and their October 20th release show at The Chess Club in Austin. These guys are true veterans who know exactly what it is they do and do it confidently. Though the name of the spellbinding new album by the Buffalo-based post-metal band Thought Trials is laden with pessimism and despair (and at times the songs are too), our reviewer writes: "Over and over in the music, there are visions of mystery and majesty that transcend a mundane earth-bound existence, as if there really is something more to life than folly and death, even if whatever that might be almost always seems to be just out of reach." The new Thought Trials track, “Kintsugi,” is premiering today with Veil of Sound. The track also features the Texan duo Greybloom. Quite a shift from the previous single, this one is really heavy on the blackgaze. The song is out on all platforms tomorrow, and the full album, “Full of Sound and Fury, Signifying Nothing,” is out February 15th!

It’s always such a nice surprise when we hear a good song that doesn’t hide its roots and origins - and man Thought Trials’ new single surely does not do that. This is blackgaze or post-rock-infused hardcore (whichever term you prefer) at its finest and the song we are premiering today is sure...

The first single from the new Thought Trials album premiered with Captured Howls this past Saturday, and will be on Bandcamp and Spotify starting tomorrow. The track is called "Guilt and Shame," from the album "Full of Sound and Fury, Signifying Nothing," which releases on February 15th. I've had a bit of a difficult time explaining this album in a succinct manner, largely because it varies so much track to track. This song is more in the post-rock vein, though with a darker perspective than usual. The next single is like blackgaze, there are doomgaze moments, ambient-leaning pieces, post-metal - at times I've thought it reminds me of "Tunnel Blanket"-era TWDY, at other times Holy Fawn, sometimes If These Trees Could Talk, and so on.

It's a really nicely diversified album by a very talented multi-instrumentalist. Josh Martin is a drummer from Buffalo, and his music helps back up my assessment that the best solo artist music comes from people who are drummers by trade. That's such an important central position to work from, and everything tends to fall in place in a much more satisfying manner when the drums are the focus. Anyways, check this track out, and keep an eye and ear out for the second single - my personal favorite track on the album - which will follow in the next couple of weeks.
