Austin one-man prog/metal/post-rock outfit Scaphoid is back with a new single, entitled “Pandora’s Box,” which is streaming exclusively with Heavy Blog Is Heavy. It’s off the new album “Echoes of the Rift,” which will be released July 14th.

Happy release day to Boston’s - their sophomore record “Rememory” is out now across all platforms, and is also available physically via and // this instrumental duo has a strikingly strong grasp on sound design/production and dramatic/emotional substance. What they’re presenting on this record sonically far exceeds what one would typically expect from a small independent artist. The album is six tracks, but flows together as one extended concept, creating a vivid and vibrant space for the listener to inhabit as they explore its many delicate and dynamic layers. This will definitely end up being one of the most rewarding post-rock releases of 2023. Link in bio.

The Pittsburgh post-emo band Frame and Mantle just released their new EP "Above A Burning World" this past Friday. The follow-up to their 2019 LP "Lost Under Nighttime Sky," these three songs act as a counterpart, reflecting the many changes and adaptations that have transpired in the nearly four years since that album's release. It contends with feelings of uncertainty, stagnation, and melancholy, providing a foil for Nighttime Sky's brighter tone, but also acting as an outlet for the band to re-stoke their creative fires and express themselves musically again. FFO of Balance and Composure, Moving Mountains, Vasudeva, etc. If you're in the Pittsburgh area tomorrow (Feb 25th), they'll be playing their release show at Voodoo Brewing Co. - Homestead Pub

Last time we premiered music from It Was a Good Dream, we were starting down the barrel of the intial stages of the COVID pandemic. We were cut off, isolated, scared, and bewildered, with little but each other to get us through what was coming. And, you know what? Here we are.

The Boston duo It Was a Good Dream just premiered "Drawing Your Recurve," the first single from their upcoming new album "Rememory." Everything Is Noise has the exclusive stream right now, and the track will be more widely released on other platforms this Friday. Like their last album, "Rememory" will be released by Dunk!records, and anyone who was at dunk!fest this year can confirm that IWAGD came out as one of the most memorable acts of the weekend.

Viewfinder is a "new old" band from Denver - they spent the past ten years under the name Bridges Will Break, and just went through a re-branding process for their upcoming album "Voices Echo." "Luster" is the opening track and lead single, and is being premiered now at Everything Is Noise. The band stands at the crossroads of emo, shoegaze, and post-rock, blending confessional vocals with an airy, expansive compositional style, while skillfully retaining the immediacy of the three-minute pop-friendly song structures. The Austin experimental/instrumental post-rock band my education has been around since the original formative years of what we now think of as post-rock - contemporaries of bands like Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Tortoise, and Explosions in the Sky. They're releasing their 9th studio album, "EMKA," October 14th, and Veil of Sound has the premiere of the first single and title track. It's accompanied by a great write-up that covers everything from the band's back story both in origin and in recent years, the production details for the new record, bands they've shared the stage with over the years, their involvement across multiple types of art and media, and their October 20th release show at The Chess Club in Austin. These guys are true veterans who know exactly what it is they do and do it confidently.
