See yall Friday like a mf!!!
DJ Nefyu, RKMobile313, and The Shadow Gallery come together to immerse you in a night of culture, rhythmic healing, good vibes and melanin. "Twerk For Sasuke" (The Official Cosplay Twerk Party) is an event catered to those who enjoy dancing with their ugly faces, letting their booties do all the hard work and thinking, and sweating out their problems on the dancefloor. DJ Nefyu has intentionally curated this set to bring you only the highest quality tracks, masterfully mixed for your listening and dancing pleasure. We created this event with black Detroit cosplayers, and safety in mind. To bring more awareness to the rich legacy we hold in continuously representing anime culture to the highest levels all across the world, and to provide a safe space for ALL PEOPLE to have as much fun as possible. While it is not a requirement for you to come dressed up in cosplay, it is highly encouraged for your own joy and experience. We are deeply looking forward to taking you on this journey.

PS: Evolution of pieces.

I really enjoy this blend of "If home is where the heart is" x "Masks" and I decided to blend these pieces right before I said something about the pager. There is a major difference in energy when performing for an audience vs. when you practice at home. There are some things that you can't rehearse and won't be exposed in rehearsal, especially when you are by yourself.. and you have to know how to maneuver and adjust. When I began performing, I immediately noticed that the room had too much of an echo over the microphone for me to tap into the energy that I wanted to go with the piece.. so I decided to remove the mic for the sake of audio clarity. If the audience can't understand every word, your piece won't be as impactful. I made sure that I was always facing my audience and that I was projecting my voice to the back wall of the room. I also decided to gradually build in intensity as a tactic to draw them more into the story as it progressed. It's important to me to not sound the same throughout my pieces, as I get mad bored with monotone performances, or performances with a cadence I've heard before. I also played with my face and attire in a way that I never have with this piece before. I was striving to convey the struggle of wearing a smile as a mask and how that would present itself emotionally in subtle expressions. There is so much more work to do in bringing out, what I feel, is the true embodiment of how the message of this piece should be presented. Ima get there soon though.
