Another trip around the sun, as they say! It's the big 3•3 for me and I can confirm that with each passing year my dreams do get bigger and the list of goals I set for myself get longer. There are so many to-do’s when it comes to planning a wedding so it’s nice to share a list of things you can skip every once in a while so you can save some time, money, and sanity!

▪️Traditional Registries- don’t feel obligated to ask for more baking sheets and towels if you don’t need them. Embrace your personalities and offer options that are unique to you like experiences, activities, or hobby related items

▪️Bathroom Baskets- your guests do not need an abundance of toiletries; they will bring their own necessities so spend the extra time and money towards something more special

▪️Emergency Bridal Kit- it will probably never leave the bridal suite and your trusted wedding coordinator will always have theirs on hand so it's one less thing you have to worry about

▪️Guest Favors- unless you’re providing something truly unique, it’s an item that will not be missed and it’s just an additional expense for something that most of the time gets left behind

▪️Unnecessary décor elements- there is no need to order directional signage, programs, space filling décor, etc. Your coordinator and venue manager will direct guests where to go and they will have already read the order of events from your invitations. Additionally, if you have unflattering or empty spaces in your venue you are trying to make better, leave them alone. Insignificant décor will only draw more attention to them

Wedding Invitation Etiquette🤍

Your outer envelope should be addressed with each guest’s title and full name (first and last). This goes for all married and un-married invitees. If your guest is bringing a plus-one it is best to list that person’s full name as well. If you plan to invite children, you can either address the envelope to the family as a whole or list their specific names on a separate line below the parents, in birth order.

Inside your envelope you should have a few different cards with all of your wedding details. The formal reception invitation which should include your full names, date, time, dress code, wedding website, and location(s) of your ceremony and reception. A second card highlighting directions around the venue, parking information, and reserved hotel blocks so your guests know where to stay. Lastly, and most importantly, separate stationary for your response cards. With online RSVP’s becoming more popular, you will either need a QR code for guests to scan and submit their attendance with meal choice OR a physical response card for them to mail back. Always make sure to include postage for your guests, they shouldn’t have to pay for this and you will receive their responses back much quicker than if they weren’t included!

If you don't have a flower girl at your wedding or are looking for alternative ideas here are some possibilities and options to consider:
- Have your little ones carry a lantern, special sign, or blow bubbles as they walk the aisle. It is a sweet substitute to petals and something unique and special they will feel excited to show off
- For the younger members who may not be old enough to throw petals, have them carry balloons, ribbon wands, or pinwheels. It will keep them entertained and distracted from the large crowd of faces smiling back at them which can be intimidating
- Pre-line your aisle with eucalyptus, willow leaves, soft ruscus, baby's breath, or seasonal florals mixed with foilage
- Using your ceremony chairs, hang your floral arrangements down the center aisle in vases or have them cascading down secured by coordinating ribbons

It is completely acceptable to skip the traditional flower ceremony altogether and opt for a unique entrance or a special unity ceremony that reflects your personalities as a couple. Ultimately, the most important thing is to choose something that feels meaningful and special to you both on your wedding day!

1. If you're already having a large dessert display, opt for a champagne tower pour which is an exciting and fun way to kick off the after- dinner festivities
2. Cake may not be your thing, but who doesn't love ice cream!? Create a sundae mixed with each partners favorite toppings and dip in for a first 'scoop'

In honor of mother nature's unwelcoming weather today, let's talk about what happens if rain starts to put a damper on your wedding day festivities. It's something no bride wants to think about but it is important to plan ahead for.

It's one of the few things you cannot control so take the extra time to arrange indoor ceremony, cocktail hour, and photo locations ahead of time and BE OK with these decisions. It's also beneficial to leave some empty space in your timeline when traveling between locations because we all know how traffic goes slower.

Sure, you can purchase clear umbrellas and prepare towels and blankets to dry things off but there is something special about all of your guests socializing in a more confined space than being sprawled out across a large patio or garden. Not to mention, when will you ever get the chance to achieve such memorable and unique wedding photos again?🖤

Creating a mood board for yourself will not only help determine the vision and style you want for your wedding but it will also help establish the venue and vendors you'll need to reflect it!

▪️ Build your board with all different aspects; colors, flowers, food, dresses, stationary, bars, etc. When you see it all together, it helps narrow down what is cohesive and what elements you can let go of
▪️ Are you 'pinning' a lot of outdoor spaces with scenic views or natural design elements? Then you know not to waste your time scoping out venues in an urban setting, even though it may be more convenient
▪️ If you find yourself gravitating towards photos that are natural and not-so staged, you'll want to look into photographers who specialize in photojournalism. You'll still get some direction but it'll be all about the raw emotions of your day with less interference
