Created in 1978, Erick wrote, “I don’t quite know whether these dances are dreams the old Greeks had, or my dreams of the Greeks. What a vivid kind of society they were that we still are enchanted by the way the looked at the world, and the way they let poetic images fountain forth.”

Lloyd Knight [@lloydknight] returns to the Lake Tahoe Dance Festival for a second time this summer. Lloyd joined the Martha Graham Dance Company [@marthagrahamdance] in 2005 and performs the major male roles of the Graham repertory including in Appalachian Spring, Embattled Garden, Night Journey and many others.
Lloyd will be performing with Kristina Berger [@champagnefountain] in 'Stephen Acrobat' choreographed by Erick Hawkins and reimagined by Katherine Duke. Former Hawkins dancer and now Artistic Director Katherine Duke has reimagined Erick Hawkins’ 1947 'Stephen Acrobat as Acrobat of Innocence,' premiered in 2021 at University of Nevada Las Vegas.
