Caught this raw moment between Alessio and Bella as they spun together by the waves at Laguna Beach.

I slowed the shutter down to 1/15th of a second to capture the motion blur of the ocean and their love. I love how the movement and emotion blend into something so real and unscripted.

Sometimes, it's not about perfection—it’s about the feeling behind it. Couldn’t have asked for a better session, and can’t wait for the next, with even more light and color to play with.

Alessio reached out to me about six weeks ago with a plan that had my heart racing—he wanted to propose to his girlfriend, Bella, at the iconic Victoria Beach in Laguna.

Proposals always get me a little extra nervous—more than weddings or engagements. There’s so much on the line: not being seen, capturing the moment without giving anything away, and making sure I’m in the right spot. But with nature involved (waves, wind, crowds), anything can happen!

We mapped out everything carefully, but when the moment finally came, Alessio was so nervous (and fast!) that I barely had time to click. Bella said she had a feeling something was coming and was just as nervous, so I guess we were all nervous that day, lol! 😅 But when Alessio dropped to one knee, both of their smiles lit up the whole beach. 🥰

It was a slightly overcast day, but we still managed to get a sliver of sunset, and despite it being a holiday weekend at one of the most crowded beaches in SoCal, everything worked out perfectly.

The surprise didn’t stop there—after the proposal, Alessio invited me to their house for a surprise party with their families and friends. It was an incredible opportunity to capture candid moments and special family photos—three generations coming together to celebrate.

This is why I do what I do. I might just be the guy with a camera, but to be trusted to capture the most intimate and meaningful moments of someone’s life is a true honor.

I’m blessed to create timeless art that their family will treasure for generations. Alessio and Bella, thank you for letting me be a part of your journey, and I can’t wait to create more with you in the future. 🙏🏼💫

How it all began

My first camera broke after having it for one day (age 12)...It wasn’t until after graduating college (with a degree in Finance, year 2008, that I never used…) that I picked up my next camera on a trip to Portland to photograph the Autumn leaves. Since then my camera and I have traveled through Europe, the Middle East, India, North America, and we tend to find ourselves at the ocean or in the desert capturing skies, scale, and solitude with intense light and colors. It’s an endless romantic journey searching for the beauty in everything. In my free time You’ll find me surfing and reading books on art and probably making a chocolate banana smoothie Chat soon!
