Drum & bass, jungle, and all beats broken and beastly Legend has it, a creature was born in the darkness of a Brighton nightclub.

After sharpening its claws on a trio of 1210s, it escaped its basement captivity, leaving a trail of mauled dancefloors across Europe. They say you will know it by its razor sharp scratches and brutal bass growls. Wherever there is drum and bass carnage, they say it has been. Recent rumours suggest the creature has migrated to South East Asia. Residents of Saigon still enter venues with trepidatio

n, having caught glimpses, through the ruckus of flailing limbs, fog and strobe, of something behind the decks that seemed not quite human. In Thailand, too, there have been rumblings. Junglists have been found wandering the streets at dawn in a cold sweat, eyes glazed, muttering warnings of a savage beast unleashed on the dancefloor. Some say that these are just the unhinged ravings of unhinged ravers, but older, wiser heads are beginning to suspect that somewhere in Bangkok’s underground, there lurks some kind of DJ Animal.
