Every day I’m dreaming up ways to improve my business, especially the client experience. Whether planning or florals, I always want my clients to feel supported, confident, and joyful. The process should be fun! I’m here to give you peace of mind by guiding the planning or design process, and also to totally hype you up.
Check out the Wedding Management and Floral Design services on my website to learn more about how I can do this for you!
As I was helping my grandpa plan his wedding several years ago (which occurred the day before his 80th birthday - he joked that Ginger didn’t want to marry a man in his 80s lol), he told me about his wedding to my grandma, who passed when I was a teenager. He said that most average people back then had a church ceremony followed by a punch and cake reception. Simple but lovely and memorable. Don’t get me wrong, I love artistic installations and epic views and thoughtful touches everywhere you look. But there’s something to be said for keeping things simple and I don’t believe it makes it any less special - it’s all about perspective. Because, what makes it special and unique is that it’s YOU. Forget cookie cutter, forget boring. Also forget trends, Pinterest and TikTok. It all boils down to the fact that it’s a celebration of your love, which is unique in and of itself. You are still making decisions that resonate with you, too. Your clothing, accessories, the location, the guest list, the font on the invitation, the flavor of the cake. Even simple can’t be boring to you as long as it feels like you. So if this sounds more like you than what you see opening up an app, please rest assured that it’s more than okay, and in fact, it’s wonderful.

New business name, same face. And for those who are new around here, Frances and Francis were my great-great grandparents - I’m Nicole. See my stories today to get to know me a bit more, what I’m like as a planner/designer and also get a little window into my personal life. See what food I like, bone I’ve broken, and country I’ve been banned from 😜

Stay cool, summer wedding people. How?
• Lots of shade - if there is none, offer parasols
• Cold beverages and plenty of water
• A later timeline when the sun and heat isn’t so harsh
• An A/C area (lounge?) set up to retreat to
• Frozen desserts like popsicles!
When I was 9 years old my mom gave me the choice for my birthday to see Britney Spears in concert or to see California Ballet’s Swan Lake. It was a tough choice (we are talking 1999 Britney, after all) but I chose to see Swan Lake. I still have the ticket stub. I’ve seen many ballets - and performed in them when I later trained at California Ballet myself - but Swan Lake has remained my favorite. Ever since I saw The Swan Princess (90s kids will know) I’ve loved the story. Maybe because it has a juxtaposition of lightness and darkness and that has always spoken to me in a deep way.
When I reconnected with my old ballet friend, Kyndall, as adults, I had to tell her about my vision for a re-envisioned Swan Lake bridal shoot. She immediately became my muse and helped me create this dream come true. I might have been a little crazy for trying to pull this off while very very pregnant but I had an amazing team and I’ll forever be obsessed with it.
Swipe to the end to see Kyndall and me when we performed in the Nutcracker in 2007.
Ceremony details for the win 🤩 We reused all of this at reception around the cake table, welcome table, and bar. Because the ceremony space and reception venue were in two different parts of town, having ceremony decor that could quickly and easily be transferred was important in order to be able to reuse it. If you’re wondering what will work for your wedding spaces, ask your florist! They don’t just make pretty things - they’re a wealth of information!

💌 I’d like to tell you the love story behind Frances Loves Francis.
I’ve always loved rummaging through family photos and nostalgia since I was a kid. One day a few years ago I came across a tattered old album in my grandparents’ attic that I’ve never noticed before. It was full of maybe a hundred or more antique postcards, all face forward with their notes hidden. Even my grandma didn’t know much about them but decided it was time to preserve them better.
With each delicate postcard carefully removed, a story unfurled that slowly revealed more and more of our family history. Almost all of them were essentially love letters between my great-great grandparents, Frances and Francis, during their sometimes long-distance courtship, up until a bit after they married. Some were simple and sweet, some were even a bit cheeky, all were fascinating to me.
We learned about who they were as young folks in love, where they lived, and how they spent their time. Suddenly we had an intimate glimpse into their private lives, their thoughts, and sense of humor. To hold these pieces of paper in my hands that my ancestors scribbled on over 120 years ago, to have a window into the past, our family’s past…it was thrilling.
With that inspiration of authentic and timeless love, I give you Frances Loves Francis, a wedding company.

☯️ Never have I met two people who complemented each other more than these two. The fact that their wedding has now come and gone is so bittersweet. This is one that I would love to relive. Awesome couple, venue, vendors, party. Manifesting more of this.
In case you missed it over the weekend, Nicole Burbank Events is now Frances Loves Francis! There’s a story behind it. I’ll be sharing more soon but shoot me a message if you want to know sooner 😘

SOFT LAUNCH! Notice anything different around here? You may have known me as Nicole Burbank Events, but ever since I started my business I’ve wanted to give it a more creative name. Originally I just went with my own name because I couldn’t think of anything better. I have also spent years of my business evolving and have finally found it in a place that feels more like a reflection of me, so I needed branding to go along with it. I’ve also let things hold me back from making it really happen. Waiting for the perfect time, the perfect name, the perfect logo, the money to hire others to do the whole thing for me and make it all a big flashy thing. The waiting for everything to line up a certain way was just preventing me from committing to anything at all and I’m over it. Doing small stuff now and will work my way to the rest. So here it is, Frances Loves Francis, a Wedding Company. Much more to come, but in the meantime, check out my new website (especially if you want to know the story behind the name). Reply to this post with a DM to say hey and to learn more about what else is in the works!

Happy Love Day 💕 and for all the haters out there, you can hate on the commercialism, and the pressure to do something that’s forced (in which case I would question the genuineness of that relationship), but don’t hate on love, please. Who does it harm to have a day devoted to it? Who does it harm for people to just love on each other? There are so many ways to celebrate and just put love out into the world (doesn’t have to be romantic), even as simple as a kind gesture for a stranger. I think in this world we could all use a little extra love, and take practice in showing it. And, I hope for the sake of your bitter heart, that you have someone to love and who loves you too. Plus, it’s so cute.

That time last year when some of my favorite people married each other. One of the best things about this career is being able to love on the people I love with my skills and resources. It’s always an honor when they choose me and as much as I put my heart and soul into my work anyway, there’s an added layer of it for them.

I don’t have the right words to sum up this year but for the sake of positivity, there was joy, there was love, and there was an abundance of gratitude. Cheers to a New Year filled with even more of all that good stuff, and more.

Got wedding decision making fatigue? Here’s a tip to help:
Some wedding florists offer an á La carte option! 🙋🏼♀️
🌸 What that means is you can choose premade arrangements to pickup or perhaps have delivered locally for a much smaller labor fee than full service.
🌸This is a great option for smaller weddings with simpler floral needs (no onsite design) and also lower budgets as it requires a smaller minimum spend.
🌸 Because of this, it’s important to delegate to a trusted person the responsibilities of pickup/receiving, transportation, setup, breakdown and possibly return of any rented hard goods.
🌸 There may be a bit less customization but that also makes for a more streamlined process and hence, no decision fatigue - at least when it comes to flowers 😉
If this sounds like the fit for you, head to the inquiry form on my website and choose “à La carte” from the services menu!

This has been a slower year of business for me for a few reasons, but I’m here to say I’m still working, still creating, still making art and planning epic celebrations of love.
At first, I thought business was slower for me this year because I took a tiny bit of a step back on purpose after having my second kid, but then I heard from most of my vendor friends that this year is slower in general for them too. I have a few theories on that:
1. We’ve moved beyond the post – pandemic wedding boom and now things are mellowing out since all those postponed weddings have now finally happened
2. Inflation has made it harder for people to afford the weddings they are envisioning and are either making more sacrifices to get married now or planning a longer engagement. It seems a lot of people now are planning a wedding in two years rather than one, which seemed to be more common a few years ago.
3. Here’s the biggie in my opinion… Had there not been a pandemic, a lot of people who would have had weddings this year would have met 2 to 3 years ago, when, in actuality, most of the dating scene was put on hold. No new couples = no new weddings after a time.
All of this to say, I have hope that a lot of this will level out in the next few years. Weddings are still happening and I’m still over here thinking and dreaming up ways to support couples, let the creative juices flow, and keep the momentum.

What a lovely experience to work with these incredible vendors and in a place that holds so much significance to @elimajors and me, a place that represents the beginning of our relationship. I had fun making the flowers, especially with the gold painted safflowers! Plus, I got to wear my wedding dress again!

My Story
NICOLE BURBANK EVENTS
What I love most about weddings is curating a personalized day of moments... that balance and flow of sweet sentimental moments as well as downright fun moments, every bit as meaningful as the last and all in the spirit of love, joy and connection.
WEDDINGS FOR A CAUSE
As part of my initiative to pay it forward, 5% of profits are donated to charitable organizations and all service professionals receive 5% off.
NICOLE BURBANK MAJORS
Born and raised in San Diego, I grew up loving the great outdoors and all things vintage. I enjoy camping (the real deal), hiking, dancing, traveling, good food, wine, and jams in good company. I like kind people, skipping small talk, and being silly. I am a good listener and hostess, and don't take myself too seriously. I am inspired by everything in nature... color, shape, texture, spirit.
