Cheers to the 2025 weddings coming up and hoping they’re just as amazing as last year’s. I really score with the most incredible clients who are way cooler than me and trust me with something so personal and important to them. So really, cheers to my rad clients. I’m forever grateful.

Hi, it’s been a minute! Took an 18 day roadtrip with my husband and little kiddos 🏕️, started both of them in preschool, threw a couple parties, booked a few weddings, and put up spooky decorations. So, it’s been a little busy around here. All good things! Still here, movin and groovin.

As I was helping my grandpa plan his wedding several years ago (which occurred the day before his 80th birthday - he joked that Ginger didn’t want to marry a man in his 80s lol), he told me about his wedding to my grandma, who passed when I was a teenager. He said that most average people back then had a church ceremony followed by a punch and cake reception. Simple but lovely and memorable. Don’t get me wrong, I love artistic installations and epic views and thoughtful touches everywhere you look. But there’s something to be said for keeping things simple and I don’t believe it makes it any less special - it’s all about perspective. Because, what makes it special and unique is that it’s YOU. Forget cookie cutter, forget boring. Also forget trends, Pinterest and TikTok. It all boils down to the fact that it’s a celebration of your love, which is unique in and of itself. You are still making decisions that resonate with you, too. Your clothing, accessories, the location, the guest list, the font on the invitation, the flavor of the cake. Even simple can’t be boring to you as long as it feels like you. So if this sounds more like you than what you see opening up an app, please rest assured that it’s more than okay, and in fact, it’s wonderful.

New business name, same face. And for those who are new around here, Frances and Francis were my great-great grandparents - I’m Nicole. See my stories today to get to know me a bit more, what I’m like as a planner/designer and also get a little window into my personal life. See what food I like, bone I’ve broken, and country I’ve been banned from 😜

Stay cool, summer wedding people. How?
• Lots of shade - if there is none, offer parasols
• Cold beverages and plenty of water
• A later timeline when the sun and heat isn’t so harsh
• An A/C area (lounge?) set up to retreat to
• Frozen desserts like popsicles!
When I was 9 years old my mom gave me the choice for my birthday to see Britney Spears in concert or to see California Ballet’s Swan Lake. It was a tough choice (we are talking 1999 Britney, after all) but I chose to see Swan Lake. I still have the ticket stub. I’ve seen many ballets - and performed in them when I later trained at California Ballet myself - but Swan Lake has remained my favorite. Ever since I saw The Swan Princess (90s kids will know) I’ve loved the story. Maybe because it has a juxtaposition of lightness and darkness and that has always spoken to me in a deep way.
When I reconnected with my old ballet friend, Kyndall, as adults, I had to tell her about my vision for a re-envisioned Swan Lake bridal shoot. She immediately became my muse and helped me create this dream come true. I might have been a little crazy for trying to pull this off while very very pregnant but I had an amazing team and I’ll forever be obsessed with it.
Swipe to the end to see Kyndall and me when we performed in the Nutcracker in 2007.
Ceremony details for the win 🤩 We reused all of this at reception around the cake table, welcome table, and bar. Because the ceremony space and reception venue were in two different parts of town, having ceremony decor that could quickly and easily be transferred was important in order to be able to reuse it. If you’re wondering what will work for your wedding spaces, ask your florist! They don’t just make pretty things - they’re a wealth of information!

A second kiss down the aisle is always a good idea. One of the most memorable shots, in my opinion. Can’t you just feel the celebratory energy?!

💌 I’d like to tell you the love story behind Frances Loves Francis.
I’ve always loved rummaging through family photos and nostalgia since I was a kid. One day a few years ago I came across a tattered old album in my grandparents’ attic that I’ve never noticed before. It was full of maybe a hundred or more antique postcards, all face forward with their notes hidden. Even my grandma didn’t know much about them but decided it was time to preserve them better.
With each delicate postcard carefully removed, a story unfurled that slowly revealed more and more of our family history. Almost all of them were essentially love letters between my great-great grandparents, Frances and Francis, during their sometimes long-distance courtship, up until a bit after they married. Some were simple and sweet, some were even a bit cheeky, all were fascinating to me.
We learned about who they were as young folks in love, where they lived, and how they spent their time. Suddenly we had an intimate glimpse into their private lives, their thoughts, and sense of humor. To hold these pieces of paper in my hands that my ancestors scribbled on over 120 years ago, to have a window into the past, our family’s past…it was thrilling.
With that inspiration of authentic and timeless love, I give you Frances Loves Francis, a wedding company.

☯️ Never have I met two people who complemented each other more than these two. The fact that their wedding has now come and gone is so bittersweet. This is one that I would love to relive. Awesome couple, venue, vendors, party. Manifesting more of this.

My Story
NICOLE BURBANK EVENTS
What I love most about weddings is curating a personalized day of moments... that balance and flow of sweet sentimental moments as well as downright fun moments, every bit as meaningful as the last and all in the spirit of love, joy and connection.

NICOLE BURBANK MAJORS
Born and raised in San Diego, I grew up loving the great outdoors and all things vintage. I enjoy camping (the real deal), hiking, dancing, traveling, good food, wine, and jams in good company. I like kind people, skipping small talk, and being silly. I am a good listener and hostess, and don't take myself too seriously. I am inspired by everything in nature... color, shape, texture, spirit.
