Happy birthday

Wow, 18 now, and so many amazing adventures ahead of you.

You are the most intelligent, thoughtful, deep thinking, passionate, bibliophile, fierce advocate, critical thinking, creative, chocolate loving, debating queen, world events aware, kind, hard working, dog loving, fast talking, information giving, young person I've ever met.

You're a HSC student, MacDonald's Manager, an amazing friend, awesome sister, brilliant daughter.

We butt heads often, and you continually challenge me to think about life and the ways I've previously thought about the world, to the extent that my brain often hurts. 😳 However, I still don't want to dissect the plot of a movie or a play on our way home - it was good, I enjoyed it, and that's all there is to say! 🫣🤭🤣

We've been through so much together. We escaped an abusive household, we lived through my cancer dignosis and treatment, we fought for 3 years in family court, I was awarded full parental custody of you and G, we have struggled financially and emotionally, you live daily with multiple chronic illnesses that are mostly invisible to the world and yet...

Through all that you show up.
You show up for yourself.
You show up for me.
You show up for your sisters.
You show up for your friends.
You show up for your work.
You show up for people who don't have power.

To say you're an exceptional human is an understatement. You amaze me with your strength and tenacity every single day.

I love you. ❤️

Books & succulents... yesterday we celebrated Lily!

My eldest daughter turned 18 last week, and we celebrated her birthday in true Lily style surrounded by books, nature, and her favourite people.

Lily has been an avid bibliophile since she started reading in kindy, so this was such a fitting way to celebrate.

Special thanks to my forever gorgeous friend for the use of her stunning garden. And to Ken (her gardener) for all his hard work and horticultural magic.

Also, to the amazingly talented for her phenomenal succulent book cake. Mel, your creations never cease to amaze me!

And my beautiful friend for your tables, cushions, rugs, cutlery, glassware, and napkins, which totally set the scene for an amazing afternoon of fun.

Today I've launched something new.

I've been planning and working on this idea for a long time and today I'm taking the leap!

Those who know me or have followed along for a while, you know how much I love colour - & I present you with my new biz logo.

Faux Floral Design Co.au is a place to share my years of Floristry skills and teaching skills to offer workshops with Faux Flowers for home, events and installations.

Artificial flower quality, texture and colour have transformed over the last decade and I'm here for it! 🌈

Obviously it couldn't have come together without the help of some of my friends.

Simon .sydney, you my friend are like a brother to me and have the biggest heart. Thanks champion. Not sure I'll think of you fondly tomorrow morning 😵‍💫

Finally, this girl was the first one we booked. I've worked with Tash many times and we developed a friendship plus my daughter Jess adores her so we knew we needed her. Hell we would've changed the date if she was unavailable. DJ Young Tash. You may be small in stature but your heart is the size of the fu***ng moon. We knew you'd get the party going and you didn't disappoint. I know Jess could not wait to see you today. Thank you.

I just want to do a shoutout to my wife Mel_Sleiman]] who was an absolute beast this week. Not only did she have client orders but she put in soooo many long hours and late night/early morning finishes to ensure Jess's cake and the dessert cups were perfect. They were divine !!!

Thank you once again. Now I need to lay down and prepare for the monster hangover coming tomorrow.
