Funny thing about our Central Coast - if you like the warm sun shiny glow then the fall or winter is your best bet! It’s common to think that you’ll get that in Summer but then June Gloom and Fogust rolls on in. Of course neither can be promised any time of year but it will be gorgeous no matter what 🫶🏼.

Greetings, my darlings!

It’s time for an updated ‘about me’ post, and I’m excited to share these beautiful images taken by , which I finally had the chance to edit.

On my page, you’ll get a glimpse into my world, where exquisite gowns, windswept hair, and all things nostalgic reign supreme. Showcasing motherhood in the most ethereal and magical way is my specialty.

I’m the proud parent of two amazing humans, a sweet pup, and four adorable felines! My husband is my rock and truly makes my world go round.

My dreams include mastering the art of herbalism and perhaps one day becoming a skilled midwife!

I adore all things classic and vintage, from antiques, classic novels, flowers, and poetry to arts of all kinds, tea parties, and dresses. If your great grandma loved it I probably do too!

When I photograph families, I revel in letting children be children, candidly capturing their true selves at a specific point in time. Unlike the typical posed photo that just about anyone can do, I aim to document the distinctive essence of each person in a way that’s both authentic and extraordinary. Whether on the beach collecting shells or blowing every single dandelion they can find, I love to stand back and observe who the child is deep in their soul and create a true reflection - frozen in time. 🤍

Baby girl, raising you has been the greatest honor and joy of my life. You amaze me every single day. Your confidence, love for people, and creativity humbles me daily. I can hardly believe my 8lb 9oz, 21 1/4” pink little bundle has turned into this lovely, graceful, and ethereal being. You are more than I ever dreamed of or hoped for. Even though I mourn your childhood and I miss our days of setting fairy traps and digging for buried treasure I can’t wait to see you walk into adulthood and revel in all of your future accomplishments and watch all of your dreams come true. I love you, my little Sugar Plum. Happy 18th Birthday from your biggest fan. 🤍

I have felt a pull to step into the realm of pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care for so many years (honestly since I was a child) but always pushed it away with the countless “what ifs”. I really feel that’s it’s finally time that I take that step forward. I’m not quite sure what that will look like or what it will include but I’m excited for the ideas and prospects. It would be so helpful if you could answer the poll in my story!

I’ve always loved period dramas…Little Women, Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Outlander, The Young Victoria, Downton Abbey…I could go on and on. The Victorian Era specifically has always spoken to me! My dream as I designed the greenhouse was to feel like I stepped back in time to the Victorian era but make it just modern enough! I want to be an elegant lady in a beautiful gown lounging around in my greenhouse with little kitties curled in my lap as I sit on some tea and read a book. So if that’s your vibe, let’s be friends. 🌿

New year, new season…new name!

A name change has been on my mind for several years but it’s been so hard to choose something that I both love and has meaning to me. If you know me, you know that I always make decisions with intent. Everything is well thought through and needs to have some sort of significance. I can’t choose just any name. It has to be special. Meaningful.

Let’s start at the beginning and chat about the original name. Vegas Style was actually established by my husband before I ever picked up a camera! He was doing weddings and senior photography and that name suited him, his style, and his specialties. When I joined him behind the camera we continued to use that name and then he kind of tapered off and I just kept moving forward with it.

Now I’ve been at it on my own for several years and have completely shifted gears to families, motherhood, newborns, and all things feminine. I feel that it’s finally time that I have a name that suits me, my passions, and what I represent.

So let’s talk about the significance!

Fern: My great grandmother’s name! Fern Zelda Frankenstein. Yes, Frankenstein.

Flora: My husband’s great grandmother!

Foto: With an f! I love the look of the three “f’s”. Foto is also the Spanish and German spellings which circles back to my husband’s Puerto Rican background and my German heritage.

In the coming days I’ll be changing over my instagram name, website, email, etc. I am so excited about the change, finally I’ll have a name that suits me and my greenhouse studio as well!

Our California winters are my absolute favorite. It starts to feel a little of what I imagine spring is like in a quaint European village. Long green grass. Mushrooms growing everywhere. Epic skies.

I have always been so amazed by the thought of a regular girl being chosen to raise a King. The King. To carry Him. Care for Him. Feed Him. Kiss His tiny hands and feet. What a gift. What a burden.

I was privileged to document 135 clients this year. I don’t take even a single one for granted. I am honored to play a small part in creating cherished memories, not just for those in the photos but for their loved ones now and in the future. Long after I’ve left this earth there will be people who I don’t know and who never even heard of me who will hold these images in their hands with tears on their cheeks. Family sessions are so important. More than we realize in the moment. They are stressful - yes. So much thought and planning goes into making that one hour “perfect”. But the memories created…they have value that we will never understand in the moment. Your photos that you hang on the wall, lovingly slip into cards to family members, and into add into photo albums - they are beyond priceless.

Nothing is scarier than trying new things. Especially when you’re a type one who always feels the need to be immediately good at everything or you just won’t do it. I know this film is so far from perfect and I have tons to learn. I see so many flaws and I’m sure there are many more I’m not even aware of. But I also see a beautiful family and I know they will treasure this video, regardless of it’s flaws! This was my first time taking video footage with the real intent of creating something with it and it’s only up from here! Maybe some time soon I’ll be ready to add feature films to my packages but for now it’s practice, practice, practice.
