Balloons Over Morgantown

We loved seeing all your pictures! Please submit your favorite picture (only one submission per person) from this weekend in the comments of this post by Wednesday the 18th at 9pm. We will choose our favorite submission and award one ride for two people to the winner at next year’s Balloons Over Morgantown event!

*Please only amateur photographs and refrain from photoshop.*

Additionally, if you have already flown in a hot air balloon consider refraining from entering to allow others a chance to do so.

We will announce the winner in the next few weeks and we can’t wait to see your favorite pictures.

We unfortunately have cancelled this morning's flight due to a low flight ceiling and very unpredictable winds that can cause turbulence. These create unpredictable and potentially dangerous flying conditions.

We are so glad to have had a beautiful NightGlow and two gorgeous launches on Friday. We enjoyed sharing this with all of you, it's our favorite time of the year and we can't wait till next year!

We are still hoping to fly tomorrow morning (around 8am at the Morgantown Municipal Airport). However, we won't know for sure until our pilot's briefing in the morning around 7am. We will let you know as soon as our pilot's briefing is over! We are sorry we can't let you know more in advance, but the weather does look more favorable for flying at this time!

We are going to cancel this afternoon’s launch due to weather.

There is a low flight ceiling, likelihood of rain or storms, and possibility of turbulence around our flight this time. We always have to consider safety first and it is not safe to fly this afternoon.

The weather is looking more favorable for the morning launch although we cannot promise anything yet. We will make a call closer to the time.

Thank you for understanding, we have loved the flights so far.

Pilots’ briefing for our afternoon flight will be around 3:45-4 at the airport. Then, we will start setting up to fly as long as we have a positive weather and wind forecast!

We love our Nightglow!!! We’re so glad you love it too!!

Update: we glowed as long as we could, for about an hour. All times are estimates. The wind picked up towards the end and for the safety of all, we had to take them down. We hope you all enjoyed and we appreciate you understanding.

We’re starting to inflate!!

We look forward to seeing you all for Night Glow tonight! This will be at the Morgantown Mall near the old Sears building around 7pm. We advise you to get there early due to potential traffic! An extra thank you to Westover Police for helping us with traffic control!

The balloon area will be roped off until the balloons are fully inflated at which time, we will pull down the ropes and invite the public to gather around the balloons. This ensures that while inflating, we have the area reserved for balloon vehicles and support staff.

We will post pictures and some Facebook live and/or reels from our social media, but please be cautious of clicking on unsanctioned live feeds that might be posted in comments from others. We do our best to prevent and take these down, but we offer caution since we do not control those other sites.

We loved seeing you for tether rides this evening! We had to wait for some wind to slow down, but we were able to get two balloons up for tether rides!

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow for Night Glow at the Morgantown Mall around 7pm!

As of right now the weather still looks good for a tether! We plan to start at 5:30, rides are free and on a first come, first serve basis!

TL/DR: FREE TETHERED RIDES TONIGHT AT THE AIRPORT AT 5:30 (weather and wind permitting).

Thank you for understanding about the winds last night that warranted canceling the tether! We believe the weather and wind looks favorable tonight and are going to try to tether again starting at 5:30 at the airport. We will make a final call on weather and wind by 3:30 today!

Tethered rides are free and on a first come, first serve basis! We look forward to seeing you!

Please note: Tethered rides require calmer wind than flights because the balloons are stationary.

Additionally, the burner does make a loud noise and may startle small children and others who are sensitive to loud sounds. You may consider bringing hearing protection for these individuals.
