TL;DR

B and I went on a date to Kemuri Tatsu-ya during SXSW this year. It was a magical night. I just found these 35mm film photos from the night. I love rediscovering old photos.

Life has been really challenging lately as we have had to deal with some very sad and extremely difficult family matters.

In that time, I have stopped posting for the most part. I grapple with this platform, it’s purpose, my role here, etc. Once a place to promote my business, it has now become a bit of a journal. Where my personal work ends up because I feel the need to do the work and can’t find a better way to fine completeness for that work. While posting here seems so short-lived and shallow, it does feel better than simply letting the files stack up on drives.

Freelance business is good. As we enter the new year, my small business is on the cusp of a major development and step forward. Next year, Holder Creative becomes The Shadow Agency LLC and will pivot into a real focus on grip and electric services for the film industry in North Texas.

If you’re still here, that’s wild. There’s some honesty for you. Life is hard, beautiful, ugly and exhilarating, simple and complex - sometimes all in the same day. Hug the people you love, make stuff and keep going.

Creator Josh Baker on his family’s ranch that sits along the Rio Grande. This dude is a good one.

I had the great joy of joint him and others for a journey out to the ranch to capture photos of the Milky Way. I brought out the big boi 4X5 for some fun. (More my speed than Astro, but when in Rome 🤷🏼‍♂️) It was a wonderful time. Here is a small document of that time.
