When the couple first approached us with their wedding vision, they were clear about three critical elements: a rooftop venue, a dramatic helicopter sendoff, and a lively, crunk atmosphere that would keep their guests dancing all night long. We knew right away that Ventanas in downtown Atlanta was the perfect venue to bring their dreams to life. With just a six-hour window from load-in to sendoff, we orchestrated a magical evening that none of the guests would ever forget.

✨✨ Our First Ethiopian Wedding

One of the most memorable experiences in my career as a wedding planner was organizing my first Ethiopian wedding. The couple came to me with a vision and I was excited but also aware of the responsibility to honor and accurately represent their heritage.

The first step was immersing myself in Ethiopian culture. I spent hours researching traditional Ethiopian wedding customs and speaking with the couple and their families. Understanding the symbolism behind traditional clothing, music, dances, and food was crucial. The reception was a grand affair, filled with vibrant colors, music, and dancing. We incorporated traditional elements such as the *eskista* dance, where guests moved their shoulders rhythmically. We used rich fabrics to decorate the venue, creating an authentic Ethiopian ambiance. The menu was another highlight, featuring classic Ethiopian dishes like injera (sourdough flatbread). We hired a local chef renowned for Ethiopian cuisine to ensure the authenticity and quality of the food.

The wedding was a resounding success. The couple and their families were thrilled with how beautifully their culture was represented and celebrated. Guests enjoyed the unique experience, many of them experiencing Ethiopian traditions for the first time. This wedding taught me the importance of cultural sensitivity and the value of thorough research and collaboration. By taking the time to understand and respect the couple’s heritage, we were able to create a wedding that was not only beautiful but also deeply meaningful.

June 27, 2020, was the original date for a beautiful wedding we meticulously planned. However, Covid had other plans, and the wedding was postponed. Fast forward to January 24, 2021, and we made magic happen—all in just one day!

Our lovely bride was a beacon of grace, fully understanding the challenges of the time. Despite the twists and turns, we ensured the couple's day was filled with joy, love, and unforgettable moments.
