For our Florescence 2025 Floral Design workshop for our newest Provisional members, my design challenge was to interpret the theme of Air. The Container was provided. Polar Vortex was my response, where the invisible (air) becomes visible as water in the atmosphere freezes, encircling the top of the globe as it spins on its axis. Flowers that emulate snowflakes and icicles include Astilbe, Orlaya, Allium and Chrysanthemums from Materials include acrylic sticks, aluminum wire and icy glass pebbles in the container. Can you feel the chill?

What a joy to start the year with a colorful wedding for Moody and Mackie. ❤️And when the bride is a talented graphic designer, all the elements come together beautifully! Mother Nature delivered a gorgeous crisp blue sky for the outdoor ceremony on the rooftop deck at The Grove downtown and The Tree House was a lovely setting surrounded by live oaks for the seated dinner. Wishing M&M much happiness in their new life together! Many thanks to uber talented designers Adele and Sharon for making the ceremony arch so gorgeous! And to for pulling rabbits out of hats to get lush peonies, poppies and more in the first week of January!

Storm King Art Center is a wonder. 500 acres of lovely lower Hudson Valley landscape with rolling hills, woodlands and small ponds where large scale modern sculpture is in a visual dialogue with nature. Calder, Maya Lin, Andy Goldsworthy, Jean Dubuffet, Henry Moore, Noguchi , Roy Lichtenstein, Richard Serra and way too many more celebrated artists to name. A spring visit when the grass is green, a bike ride and a picnic would make a perfect day trip from NYC.
