First and foremost, congratulations on your engagement! Before you jump into calling venues, making appointments at dress shops, and hiring vendors take a step back and slow down. It's really important you set the ground work to ensure your wedding planning is a success:
1. Determine with your fiancé what sort of wedding you want - small and intimate or a grand celebration with 200 of your closest friends.
2. When your friends look back at your wedding 5 years from now...what do you want them to remember most? Food, entertainment, venue - this will help you prioritize your budget.
3. Set a budget. No one likes to talk about money, but doing so ahead of time will help you prioritize your spending. Know how much you have already put aside, how much can you save, and who else might be able to contribute.
