🦋Since the loss of my husband in February 2023, I found myself falling into a more depressed stage in my life. All I wanted to do was eat and sleep. I disconnected from friends and family. I drowned myself in work, which I eventually quit all together. I basically felt like my life was tumbling and I almost gave up. I began to remember how he was so encouraging to me and always motivated me to keep going. I also remembered how quitting was what the enemy wanted me to do and failing is what the naysayers wanted to see. I started to shake the depression off. Three of the main reasons I describe below worked for me but another route may work for you.
1. FAMILY I have my daughters looking at me. Although they’re grown, they still look up to me and learn how to handle obstacles that they may face.
2. REMEMBER MY STRENGTH
I know my husband wouldn’t want me crying and making myself sick. He hated when I cried and wouldn’t want me feeling depressed or down. He would encourage me to keep going. Even in the hospital he encouraged me to continue the work we were doing. He always said “baby don’t quit”
3. GOD TAKES CARE OF ME.
I know God didn’t bring me this far to leave me. He has always been right beside me. I began to pray over my life, remembered that I was an overcomer and although I didn’t understand why things happened God will carry me through.
Depression is real and most of us going through don’t talk about it and are ashamed that we are going through, but kicking it and realizing that there is more work God has for us and that there is more life in you that your loved ones want to see are some reasons so kick it and try to snatch your life back.
