A year ago yesterday the world lost a true mensch the sublime David Jude Jolicoeur and like many of you I spent the whole of that last year celebrating his life .. I was very lucky to see De La several times over the years and their importance on my life and that of Hip Hop and music in general will never be overstated… in fact they are partly responsible for my marriage and my second born son among a plethora of other beautiful moments in my time on this planet and will remain so for many years hopefully to come.

Thank you Dave 🕊️ rest well sir.

2023 was ALLLLL about and one of the greatest Hip Hop protagonists in history the almighty 22 years ago they released AOI:Bionix the second part of what should’ve been a three part series and I’ve only just realised why Simply is on there (a Xmas song sampling Paul McCartney - Wonderful Christmastime) due to the proximity of the festive period.

Anyway this is a great album and if you do ONE thing today go and play the last track off this album Trying People … rest in peace Dave 🕊️

| I get it you’ve seen lots of 30th anniversary posts but I couldn’t not get involved … these two albums cemented my lifelong love of I was already invested from Low End but when these both dropped it was game set match … I’ll never forget laying in bed listening to the Radio One rap show and the “dj” played Award Tour about 6 times in a row and if I could bottle the feeling it gave me I’d be a rich man the same when I finally heard Protect Ya Neck both released at the same time but polar opposites sonically yet equally the epitome of Hip Hop ❣️

Spaghetti Bolognaise on for a couple of hours red wine flowing and family film lined up maybe I’m not as Hip Hop as I used to be … maybe I am more … A E I O U and sometimes Y

| nursing a slight hangover today after a fun night with friends far too much bbq food and beer, cider, wine and port

Only remedy for that today is a roast dinner and some brilliant music from my guy Mr Michael Render one of the most important people in right now not just because of being an incredible wordsmith but also polemically !

If you haven’t heard this album yet rectify that asap as it’s up there for album of the year and has something for everyone the heads and the / cats.

| 60’hour week plus over 15+ hours committing man I’m done but at least I’ve had good company in the form of - Charity Starts At Home and - The Wonder Years both absolute new skool classics that I wish I had on vinyl but around £150 each on the resale market must be time for a repress 👍🏻

Next weekend I’ve got the pleasure of returning to on Friday for the premier of a short film from celebrating the annual event filmed this year I’ll be playing for an hour or so wrapping up my local 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop sets check stories for ticket link then on Saturday I’m joining my homie finally at for Mellow Flow and this is already confirmed as wall to wall so arrive early all vinyl night open format I’ll be bring an hour and a half’s worth of 45’s playing everything and very much looking forward to that.

Pass through bring daps and dancing shoes both will be an absolute vibe.

| been a minute since I’ve had a Sunday at home so today is dedicated to housework - Netflix and actual chill - family and of course listen to some music.

Really glad that reissued all their albums because I forgot how good that Mosaic Thump is …. in fact it’s super solid each track is dope and aside from the obvious single releases my favourites are Thru Ya City with DV Alias Khrist produced by - Squat with the - I C Yall with Busta and View.

Trust me this album bangs ain’t no track skipping here rest in eternal peace Dave 🕊️
