It’s official — my brother has married his best friend. 😊

Welcome to the family, McKenna Cherry! 🎉

Daniel and I were doubly honored through this experience: not only did Jack and McKenna want us to be in charge of photographing and filming the day, but they also wanted to include us in their wedding party as a bridesmaid and a groomsman.

And wow, what a beautiful Texas wedding they had. The Lord even held off the rain every time we were outside for photos. 🙌🏼

Like all weddings, there were challenges, but Daniel and I are blessed and grateful to have played an integral role on such an important day for my brother and his new bride. It’s memories like this that forge life-long bonds between people, and we’re praying that God would grow our family even closer in the future.
Shoutout to Christine and Josh at — You guys are fantastic, and we could not have enjoyed this day without your hard work and collaboration. 🤍

What a joy it is to watch a family prioritize what matters most as they strive to follow Jesus together. 🌿

My time in the Bible this morning was spent in 1 Corinthians 3, where God once again refreshed my soul with His words — words that seemed so appropriate for this post:

“So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.” (1 Cor. 3:7)

Through the writings of Paul years and years ago, God continued to use the metaphors of planting and building to explain to the Corinthian church what it means to follow Him on this earth:

“The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we [Paul and Sosthenes] are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building. By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as a wise builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should build with care. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.” (1 Cor. 3:8-15)

And the same goes for today, tomorrow, and every day until the Lord Jesus comes back. He is a good God, and He gives us breath in our lungs and strength to stand firm on His truth, living in obedience and love for Him. It goes against the grain of the world, but it’s what’s best for all of our lives.

Praise God for Maria and Derek who teach their kiddo to take care of this world that God has given us, and to take care to worship Him with a full heart of adoration! 🎉

and then when I meet a family that is eager to play in the water with their little one and calmly watch the sun set… a sliver of perfection is present ✨

happy birthday to these two wonderful people (yes, they share a birthday) ✨

I’ve known this sweet family for a long time, but really, I’ve known sarah the longest. it still feels weird calling her that, because she was always miss schnaidt, my biology teacher and soccer coach, to me while I was a teenager. she was definitely one of the role models that God used to shape me into the woman I have become. every tuesday morning in moscow (yes, I spent those years in russia), we would meet for hot chocolate and Bible study before school started. she counseled me through crazy drama in friendships, encouraged me in Scripture memorization, and even ran laps with the girls soccer team during her early stages of pregnancy with zoe, her oldest child.

I remember when sarah met russell, introduced him to our biology class, said “yes” after he popped the question, and went from “miss schnaidt” to “mrs. thomas”. and since then, these five awesome kiddos have come along, which just blows my mind!

daniel and I adore this family, and for all of you newlyweds out there, sarah & russell set an excellent example of what it means to fear God wholeheartedly, humbly serve your spouse, and parent biblically.

needless to say, I treasure our trips to wisconsin that seem to always include pizza, pancakes & piano recitals ❤️
