Since 2008 Black Spiders have continued to make a loud and compelling case for heavy guitar music, from the sin city streets, revelling in the glories of the genre, its sacred lore, with a top-shelf collection of riffs, a sly dash of humour, plus an iconic logo that sits alongside the best.

This cocktail of heavy music, with a punk attitude, is something fans have come to savour. Four studio albums in, Black Spiders have toured with a variety of rock’s most riff-hungry sons, the likes of Volbeat, Danzig, Airbourne and Monster Magnet, and appeared at all of the UK’s leading festivals, including Download, Sonisphere and Bloodstock.

Noted for their unswerving dedication to the music, the middle finger (or two) and the rousing rock ‘n’ roll slogan (“EAT THUNDER, S**T LIGHTNING!”), the Spiders are the perfect low-slung machine to raise a glass or clench a tattooed fist to.

Only playing a select few dates this year between writing album five, the band return to Hull for the first time since 2011 with an intimate "club" show at The Adelphi on Sunday August 4th.

SCREAMING TARTS PRESENTS... Sound of the Sirens.
Friday September 6th 2024. Polar Bear Music Club, Hull.

Sound of the Sirens are Devon based acoustic singer-songwriting duo Abbe Martin and Hannah Wood. Honing their craft over the past decade the pair wear their hearts very much on their sleeves in terms of their songwriting, gliding gracefully through laments of past relationships, and life experiences, as well as highlighting important topics of the day such as mental health awareness and homelessness.

The duos’ musical and vocal dexterity dovetail beautifully on the co-written songs, which range from beautiful, emotive ballads, to up-beat, foot stomping, hands in the air, sing-along anthems; all of which come across particularly well in live performance. The onstage chemistry, camaraderie, and banter is worth the ticket price alone!

Formed in 1997, Nashville P***y preached its sleazy gospel over the past couple of decades alongside MOTÖRHEAD in every rock outpost from Asia to Europe and back again.

Raised on a diet of Marshall stacks, Gibson Guitars, Jack Daniels, and w**d, Nashville P***y are the bastard offspring of foul-mouthed, demented hillbilly ice-cream man Blaine Cartwright and tractor-driving, n**e art school model, and guitar prodigy Ruyter Suys. Nashville P***y quickly gained a reputation for being like “AC/DC with a female Angus” in Ruyter’s blues-meets-punk frenzied guitar solos and Blaine’s hilarious “jailhouse nursery rhyme” lyrics.

The band’s bass player - Bonnie “Bon” Buitrago - began as a teenage fan of the band sneaking into shows, determined to make the leap from audience member to member of the band by mastering her craft on bass. Atlanta native and ex-landscaper Ben Thomas on drums has quickly become known for his showmanship, precision, and all-around sensuality behind the kit.

Balaam and The Angel first emerged on the scene in 1983 and by 1984 had set up their own record label, releasing three classic singles before signing a worldwide deal with
Virgin Records.

As a major label act the band released a number critically acclaimed albums (The Greatest Story Ever Told and Live Free Or Die) and were included on the soundtrack of John Candy/Steven Martin movie “Trains, Planes And Automobiles”.

The band have toured consistently as headline act and as a guest to the likes of The Cult, Iggy Pop, Aerosmith, Kiss and more recently by request of The Almighty. Such is the crossover diversity of appeal for the band.

Still one of the few bands from their era to boast the original line up of the three brothers Jim, Mark and Des Morris they continue to generate deeply authentic and accomplished performances that makes them a phenomenal live act making the forthcoming tour something to savour.

Channelling the sounds of The Byrds, Big Star and The Flying Burrito Brothers, as well as hints of Mojave 3 and The Allah Las, The Hanging Stars mainline the dying embers of the early 70s psychedelic folk and cosmic country scenes. A mix of lush harmonies, americana and tuneful folk that creates something halfway between the Mississippi and the Mersey. Their sound is something timeless and yet somehow new, simultaneously nostalgic and prophetic.

Touring with new album 'On A Golden Shore' - their fifth album and their second for the pioneering Loose Music, following 2022’s 'Hollow Heart' – finds them definitively themselves and presents a set of disparate songs whose fundamental linkage is the band that made them.
