Not all wedding planning advice needs to apply to you and your wedding. Some wedding advice might be outdated, a misconception, or just simply not reflect what is important to you as a couple.
Here are some common wedding days myths and some ideas behind how to address them:
- Myth #1: You have to follow all the traditional wedding rules. Modern weddings are all about personalization, if a tradition doesn’t fit your vibe, skip it!
- Myth #2: DIY will save you tons of money. While some DIY projects can add a personal touch, going full DIY often leads to stress, time constraints, and unexpected costs.
- Myth #3: You should invite everyone you know. Your guest list should reflect the people who support you and celebrate your relationship, honoring quality over quantity creates a more intimate and meaningful atmosphere.
- Myth #4: You need a big wedding party. A smaller wedding party or even no formal wedding party is perfectly acceptable if that’s what fits your day best. Choose a party size that fits your comfort level.
- Myth #5: You have to spend a lot on favors. Many couples are now choosing to skip favors all together, and find ways to honor guests through experiences instead.
Your wedding day should reflect you and your partner above everything else. Trust your instincts, prioritize what’s important, and don’t be afraid to break the “rules!”
