$3 Thursday is a monthly event at the legendary Old Ironsides in Sacramento California taking place the last Thursday of every month. Every month there will be a different band, usually ONE band playing all night. On occasion, there may be touring acts where we will feature multiple bands in order to showcase great music. The principle reason for the event is simply to present great music with an
emphasis on dance. This could mean H***y Tonk, Blues, Jazz, Ragtime, Bluegrass, Rockabilly or any genre or band in which the emphasis is making the audience move. We try to keep the cover low and the bands get ALL the door money. We'll also have special events, such as tap takeovers, non-Thursday events, giveaways and more.
***BANDS LOOKING TO BOOK $3 Thursdays***
You must be a band that plays music that is specific to the audience dancing. You also must be able to play three 45 minute sets OR work with no more than one other band who also plays this type of music. Please, no solo acts, no 'singer/songwriter' centered bands, no alternative/Rock or cover bands (this does not include bands that play primarily 'standards' of their genre). Pay - If you decide to use one of Old Ironsides' on call sound persons your overhead is ($60), otherwise you are welcome to mix your own band or have an EXPERIENCED sound person do your sound, you can. However anyone doing sound must meet pre-approval by me (Grub Dog Mitchell) and if they have not used Old Ironsides' system before, you must schedule a quick training session no less than 3 days before the event to learn the board. Additionally, if you opt to have myself (Grub Dog Mitchell) do a Facebook ad buy you must work with me to budget this. I have found them to be very useful if done well in advance. I do not charge anything over the actual ad buy but you must provide your own graphics no less than 2 weeks before the event. When you work with me, you are working with an actual musician who is trying to promote dancing in Sacramento, I am not a promotor per se. I take no profit at this time. So treat me as you would a fellow musician and not someone trying to bilk you out of money. Backline can also be provided for a fee. That can be discussed on a case by case basis. Our audience is our primary focus. I will not accept bands who do not play, act in their business nor treat their audience or Old Ironsides' staff unprofessionally. If your drummer is sub par or your bass player is a jerk, you either should not submit a request to play or you should replace that du***ss. Dipsh*ts will not be tolerated.
