Jean!!!!!! You are honestly amazing. I swear these photos get better and better every year. These are so incredibly amazing. Those action shots with the kids on the beach at the end, and the first ones in the little bush area. Everything. They are beautiful. How will I ever choose?!!! I just got home from a shoot, and thought how much I love my job and how grateful I am to my clients. I’ve just met so many beautiful, kind people this year who fully trust me to capture their family. What a privilege!

As I edit their newborn gallery, I remembered I must share this maternity session. There is something very serene about first time parents (a little different when there are older siblings involved 🤪). This location, with the incredible colours and views, proved to be the perfect backdrop for their winter maternity session. Quiet moments before these two met their beautiful boy 🧡

A little story to share with you… Because I’m now rocking a new accessory, and scars are hot right? Lots of shoots coming up, so thought I’d reassure you this wasn’t some sort of Red Wedding situation 😉

In July I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer. Thankfully this is very treatable, with a good prognosis. I immediately had surgery and all looks positive from here.

What I learnt in this time was how bloody amazing people can be. The support and love we felt blew me away. From helping out with the kids, food, covering my shoots, and just general love and care. I feel very lucky that we found it, and it’s mostly behind us now.

My biggest tip? Get yourself a good GP. I saw a new GP who was very thorough, and she was the one who found the cancer. Look after yourself my friends 🩷

I’m feeling great, and happy to be back to capturing your wonderful families 🥰

I’ve been doing a bit of reflecting lately. I am just so thankful to be in a position where I can call this my job. And that has only happened thanks to the incredible love and support I receive from my husband, dear family and friends, and this beautiful community. This was my third session with this family, and to me, reconnecting and capturing memories like this makes it all worthwhile.

As 2023 comes to a close, and I finish up my last few galleries for the year, I’m reflecting on the past 12 months. It’s been a huge year for me, with a lot of professional and creative growth. I feel so content with my business and my work, and am so grateful for the incredible clients who have found me. I won’t lie, the winter worried me, it was very quiet for many photographers, myself included. And then October hit me with a bang and reminded me that everything happens in waves (and to next time enjoy the low months a bit more 😅). This behind the scenes video was an important one for me this year. I really wanted to convey to you what a newborn session in your home feels like. Wonderfully documented by @paigegotts.photosandfilms 🧡 Lots of enquiries coming through for 2024, so I’m really looking forward to what the next year brings. Have a wonderful Christmas and New Years all! Jean x
