Inner Ring House Concerts During the Fall and Spring we hold our events in the living/dining room area of our 1920's bungalow which has intimate seating for about 15-20 people.

We are a house concert venue in southeast Michigan, near Detroit, dedicated to hosting local and touring musicians in a small, intimate "listening room" environment. Inner Ring Concert Series is a community based House Concert music venue located in southeast Michigan, near Detroit. : My husband Ben and our family began opening our home and environs to local and touring musicians for intimate, "K

itchen Party" concerts in 2014 and continue to hold concerts between April and November. During the Summer months, our concerts move outdoors into our back garden area near our pond where we can accommodate larger audiences--roughly 45-50 people--which makes a very pleasant, sociable summer evening event for musicians and audiences alike. The requested donation is $20.00 per person with proceeds going directly to the musicians. Most of our concerts are booked for Saturday evening although we also have a "Sunday Supper Series" running in the late Winter/early Spring which is a late afternoon concert starting at 4:00 p.m. with a soup, bread and dessert (and wine, soft drinks, coffee/tea) supper to follow. During the Saturday evening concerts, we serve light snacks during the intermission which often include Ben's wonderful baking with wine, beer, coffee, tea or soft drinks and everyone is welcome to linger afterwards to eat, drink and visit with the musicians and other guests. We very much enjoy being part of the Michigan and regional music community and have plans for continuing for many years to come. To musicians who are interested in playing our venue:

We welcome inquiries from both local and touring musicians for our summer concerts. During the winter months, we tend to book local musicians only to avoid cancellations due to weather. We are not routinely able to house musicians in our home--we will consider solo touring musicians on a case-by-case basis but we will do our best to help locate nearby accommodations within our community of family, friends and neighbors and we are more than happy to have you spend down time with us in our home, keeping you fed and happy while you're in town. If you are a solo performer who has booked a show with us and you would like to add someone to the bill, it must be cleared with us first. We create a Facebook invitation list approximately 2 weeks ahead of the concert and update and "boost" it frequently. We ask that our artists share the announcement/invitation list generously, and make sure that any friends who would like to come are added to the list--please do not make and share a separate event invitation--we need to know who is coming and have an accurate head count" as we plan for refreshments and space needs but most importantly because this is our home and we need to know who will be coming into our space. We ask for a $20.00 per person donation with all proceeds going to the musician(s). As a general rule, we do not accept bookings from musicians who have a required minimum--while we work hard to promote our shows and encourage people to come out, we cannot guarantee an audience number. Our shows have been well attended and our audiences appreciative and generous so we feel confident that our musicians will find themselves well compensated for their work. If you have any questions not answered to your satisfaction here, please send us a message and we'll respond promptly. Thank you. Ben, Michelle and Mary Wilbert AKA Inner Ring House Concerts

It's House Concert Day folks! We're watching the weather but we're "on" and planning to remain outdoors in the back garden--we have covering over the seating area and to protect our musicians if there is a spot of rain---it looks like any precipitation will be light until after 10:00 p.m. so don't be deterred--our musicians will be arriving here quite soon to get set up and we're looking forward to seeing everyone.
If you haven't yet RSVP's and would like to come, you can still do so--all the information you need is on the poster--send your RSVP and we'll get you the address.

See you all soon!

Hey folks! Our concert with Emily and Billy is just three days away. Yes, we're keeping track of the weather and we'll be prepared to hold the concert either outdoors as planned, or we'll move into the house if necessary. The weather in Michigan has been so changeable that we're just contingency planning at this point but the concert is absolutely "on" either way.
What we do need is for those who've indicated that they're "interested" in coming out let us know if that's moved along into a plan to join us and if you're still on the fence, well, come on down--it's going to be a lovely concert and we're looking forward to seeing you.

All the information is here--there is still time to RSVP if you would like to join us

We'll see you on Saturday!

Hello friends of Inner Ring!
I am frequently asked about House Concerts--people unfamiliar with them want to understand what they are and perhaps most importantly, why I think it matters that we have them--why are we doing what we do?

We started our series by compete happenstance in July of 2014. Two young musician friends from Pittsburgh--Nathan Zoob and Guy Russo AKA Guy and Zoob--decided to do a short midwest tour and Zoob got in touch with me and asked if we would be interested in having them do a little outdoor concert. I had no idea how to set up such a thing but it sounded great so we said, "Yes!" We invited some friends, set out some chairs, we made some snacks, filled the cooler with drinks--wine, beer, soft drinks and water--and when they arrived, they set up in our back garden and magic happened; the concert was beautifully done--everyone had a marvelous time and we invited them to return the next summer and in their turn--they said "Yes!" Later that same year, another friend in the local music community, the late and much lamented Mike Stephens suggested that I invited him and a few other musician friends to do an indoor concert in our small home--I was even less sure that our nearly 100 year old Bungalow would do it justice but it worked out beautifully and after that concert, "Small House Concerts" was born. We carried on, offering about a dozen concerts a year, changing our venue name to "Inner Ring House Concerts" in honor of our town--Ferndale, Michigan--one of the first inner ring suburbs of Detroit with a rich history worth celebrating. We had to shut down during the pandemic and since restarting, we've once again enjoyed bringing musicians into our home and gardens to sing and build community among family, friends and neighbors.

Live music is always a unique and magical experience--our back garden--near our pond and our garden beds--takes on another dimension in the evening hours--a clear, star lit sky--a bright moon and good people all conspire to bring real enjoyment and peace, especially during trying times such as those we're enduring now.

Our musicians have come from all over--we've invited both local and touring musicians and we're so looking forward to continuing on for many years to come.

We believe in community arts--in shared spaces for musicians and artists to gather and for new relationships--and often new music--to be born, nurtured and embraced.

Inner Ring House Concerts is a project of the heart--we love offering these concerts and we look forward to each and every one. We hope you'll consider joining us for the remaining concerts of 2025 and we have some wonderful new changes coming along in 2026 (more on that soon). Since our first concert, we have included food and drink as part of the evening--small plate snacks and drinks. Our Fall and early Spring concerts are "Sunday Supper" concerts--we gather in the late afternoon for the concert and attendees have the option to stay for a light supper and time to visit with our musicians and friends old and new--always a lovely time.

Our next concert is coming right up on 26 July, 2025 and we are delighted to have Emily Slomovitz and Billy King with us for the evening--please consider attending--the information is all right here--we do need you to RSVP so we can plan for chairs, food and drink.

Please join us as we build community--sharing music, food and friendship--one concert at a time.

Good morning friends! I'm sad to have to announce that our upcoming concert with Emily and Billy has been cancelled due to the injury that Ben--the man of the place--sustained yesterday morning. He has a broken wrist and is wearing a good looking cast for a few weeks but he will need a few days rest and recovery so we are going to reschedule with Emily and Billy and we expect to be able to offer the balance of our House Concert year starting next month with Bobby Pennock--more on that soon.
We apologize to Emily and Billy and to all who were planning to come out--we will keep you posted about the rescheduled date and we look forward to enjoying their music another time.

Warmest best,

Michelle, Ben and Mary Wilbert AKA Inner Ring House Concerts
