Cody & Jenn are both paramedics with Dauphin EMS. Cody is also a Fire Fighter. This past weekend in Dauphin, Manitoba, we brought their Fire Fighter themed wedding to life. This is part of what took place...
Following Jenn’s toss of the bouquet, we assembled all of the single men in the room to gather on the dance floor for the garter removal. This included some of the many Fire Fighters that were in the room, paramedics, wedding party members and many friends and family.
Once it appeared that the guys and Jenn were ready to go, there was a moment of panic... where was Cody?! I called for him a few times on the microphone... no Cody. Then oh so subtly, I played a little piece of audio that Cody, Jenn & I had prepared well ahead of time and been anticipating on using for months.
Following the pager tone and the “911 dispatch” (yes, that is Jenn’s voice), picture two fire fighters bursting down the stairs from behind the curtained stage wielding their large fire axes. Following them, also appropriately dressed and "appearing" reluctant, was Cody being pushed along and encouraged by his Fire Chief! The instant laughter, applause, shouting and excitement was every bit as loud and great as we’d hoped for.

As “Fire” by the Ohio Players played away, Cody did a spectacular job of removing his jacket, taking off his helmet and slicking his hair back prior to carefully removing the garter from his new wife’s leg.
Cody & Jenn’s wedding was indeed one of a kind and perfect for the two of them. It all started earlier that day as “Forever” by Chris Brown played as the entrance song to their ceremony (YouTube “JK Wedding Entrance Dance” for the source of that inspiration). The evening then consisted of not only sharing the story of how Cody & Jenn had met, but it also highlighted the emergency services men & women with whom alongside they serve in their every day jobs “...in recognition for all those who wal
And the winner is... well now, you'll just have to watch the video to find out! :-)
Special thanks to Luke for drawing the name and to my little girl Kiana for lending me one of her toys to use as a draw box! :-) (Please pardon the noisy wind)
I've heard from a few of you that you really enjoyed reading everyones entries into this contest. So in addition to what I say in the video, "Thank You" again for opening up and sharing your memories. Memories are one of the greatest gifts we're given when it comes to a time, a place and the people that we've known.
Consider this your invitation to share as I do every week here. If this continues, I just might run another such contest. Have a great weekend everyone.
Kyle & Alyssa's "Late" Grand Entrance Video
From July 21, 2012 in Moosomin, SK. Following the introductions of their wedding party, it was time for me to introduce Kyle & Alyssa into their wedding reception. Only problem was... I forgot to put my phone into silent mode... it rang... it was Kyle... and they were running late.............
