Meet the amazing Josephine Baker! Loved for he comedic touch to every performance, Josephine became the highest paid entertainer in Europe in 1927. In 1936, she starred in a movie in the United States that proved disastrous. American views rejected the idea of a black woman with so much sophistication and power. She carried on to serve France during WWII through performing and a correspondent for the French Resistance. In the 50s and 60s, she returned to the United States to fight racism. The NAACP even named May 20th Josephine Baker Day in her honor! There is so much more to know about the amazing Josephine!

Did you know that the first bob hairstyle was worn in 1915? Irene Castle, fashion forward ballroom dancer, lobbed off her hair for convenience, making her the first woman to wear a bob. This hairstyle was very controversial due to the fact that a major part of femininity was based on long, beautiful hair. Did you know that the first vampire movie was released in 1922? The silent film titled "Nosferatu" was a huge success. It is often called the knockoff vampire due to the fact that it was actually plagiarized. Without obtaining the rights first, Dieckmann and Grau hired a writer to adapt Bram Stokers' "Dracula".
