We are so happy to announce that applications are finally open for the Bella Rose Kindness Award! You would like to apply for the award yourself OR you have a nominee in mind? Scan the code now and tell us about your nomination. We will be awarding 1000$ to a kindness ambassador. A senior student who demonstrates love, care, hope, and compassion to those around them. Nominations are open from here until June 1st 2024 and we will be in contact with the winner and they will be awarded on June 22nd 2024.

Fierté Fredericton Pride encourages you to join us and Stand With Trans Youth in response to recent changes to Alberta's gender identity and gender affirming care policies.

Escalating what began in New Brunswick with changes to Policy 713 by the Higg's government, Premier Danielle Smith is targeting trans youth in Alberta with policy changes that go beyond the school system and attack their right to gender affirming care and to participate in sports.

Going forward, Alberta will prohibit hormone treatment, puberty blockers and gender affirming surgery for children 15 years and younger. Top and bottom gender affirming surgeries will be banned for minors (even though bottom surgery is already limited to adults across the country).

Teens aged 16 and 17 can start hormone therapy, but only so long as they have permission from their parents, a physician and a psychologist. This creates unnecessary barriers to gender affirming care.

In the school system and similar to the revised Policy 713 in New Brunswick, parents in Alberta will need to give permission before a student aged 15 and under can use a name or pronoun at school other than what they were assigned at birth. Students aged 16 or 17 won't require permission, but schools will be required to let their parents know-- potentially outing kids to transphobic parents against their will.

On top of all this, teachers need to get any third-party material on gender identity, s*xual orientation and human s*xuality approved by the Education ministry and parents will have to opt students in to every lesson about s*x ed, s*xual orientation or gender identity.

Additionally, Smith's new policies forbid transgender women from competing in women's sports leagues.

Fierté Fredericton Pride expresses solidarity with Alberta's trans youth, as well as trans youth nation wide who are falling victim to anti-trans policies from their governments as in Ontario and New Brunswick. These policies are unacceptable and violate trans rights.

We are so incredibly excited for this night to arrive! We have all been working, so hard to pull this off and make our voices of support be heard! We have learned that not everyone will like the seasons of change, nor will they step outside of their comfort zones.

But, it's alright... For everyone who doesn't want to acknowledge the changes in society, there are several parents, friends, groups, and communities that will and do!

The proof of this movement is in the numbers, and there are several hundred supporters ♡
Our community and surrounding areas have supported us further than our higher expectations! Without people like you in our communities making cash donations, prizes for the auction, and simply sharing our posts, we would not have been able to get the word out!

I want everyone to know that if you/ or a friend are between the ages of 16-18, and are willing to have a great time, we encourage you to come along! You don't have to be part of the Neurodivergent or LGBTQ community. You just have to be A PROUD SUPPORTER!

Tickets are available at the majority of local high schools, online and available at the door.

Don't have the money for one or something to wear? Please DO NOT HESITATE to reach out. We will NOT turn anyone away!
