Worked my way through my to do list before the studio closes for Christmas break next week and love how the illustration of this beautiful Detroit area church turned out.

What else did I accomplish this week?

✔️ Mailed 2 sets of personal stationery
✔️ Mailed 1 keepsake box
✔️ Printed 192 envelopes for our personal Christmas card
✔️ Replied to dozens of emails
✔️ Ordered an uncountable number of Christmas presents

One of my favorite wedding menus of 2023! These menus featured watercolor florals reminiscent of the florals on their invitations and a peacock wax seal meal indicator as a sweet nod to their favorite love story, Pride and Prejudice. I always love the addition of a menu to the table scape in adding another layer of personality and color!

It’s December! And that means it’s wedding month for Alex and Will!!We drew inspiration from the winter season and the summer camp where they met and fell in love with the pine illustrations and vintage art liner. And incorporated shades of the couples favorite color, blue.

Where are all my Summer and Autumn 2024 couples at?

If you are getting married in June 2024 or later this is your reminder to begin inquiring with stationery designers about your wedding invitations. Our calendars book up quickly for Spring and Fall weddings so I recommend inquiring early and securing your spot!

If you’re getting married in September or later 2024 it’s time to inquire/order your save the dates! Remember that for destination weddings your save the dates should be mailed 9-12 months before your wedding.

Wedding planning have you slightly overwhelmed? Here’s a quick reference guide on when to inquire and when to mail your wedding stationery.

Save the Dates
Inquire: 9-12 months before
Mail: 6-9 months before

Invitations
Inquire: 6-8 months before
Mail: 8-12 weeks before

Wedding Day Stationery
Inquire: 4 months before
Send to print: 3-4 weeks before

These are general guidelines but I always recommend reaching out once you’ve set your wedding date to lock in your date on the books!

We are now booking late summer 2024 and beyond!

USPS announced another rate increase effective January 21, 2024. What does that mean for mailing wedding invitations in 2024? Here’s a breakdown:

For a very basic invitation suite without any bells and whistles expect to pay $0.68 per invitation. Reply card envelopes will also require $0.68 each.

Want your 1 ounce invitations hand cancelled? Add a non-machinable surcharge for a total of $1.12

An invitation with all the extras like envelope liners, vellum, and wax seals will weigh over 1 once and cost $0.92 to mail.

Want your invitations hand cancelled? Add the non-machinable surcharge for a total of $1.36 per invite.

Most of my clients will require 2 ounces of postage plus the optional charge for hand cancelling. Take advantage of current postal rates by purchasing forever stamps before the rate increase next year!

Let’s chat about Reply Cards...⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Reply cards are an essential piece of your wedding invitation suite. For formal occasions like weddings, it’s discouraged to include RSVP information on the face of the invitation, so reply cards solve this problem!

A few things to consider when you’re sending your stationer information for the RSVP cards:

What’s the tone of your invitations? Are they more formal or casual? The reply card wording should complement the tone of the invitation.

- Are you having an Adult-only wedding? Or do you want to specify the number of seats you have reserved per invitation? Include a line that makes it clear the number of guests invited.

- Do you have multiple events for your guests to RSVP for like a rehearsal dinner, after party, or brunch?

- For a destination wedding, would it be helpful to know where your guests will be staying?

- Does your caterer need a meal choice in advance?

- Would you prefer guests RSVP via your wedding website or using a traditional mail in response?

Happy Wedding Weekend Kelly & Grant!

Kelly and Grant wanted a formal, traditional wedding invitation for their Catholic mass wedding ceremony to highlight the importance of their vows. Adding extra personalization to the design, I created this custom wedding monogram, inspired by their shared Scottish backgrounds, and the interiors of their church. The venue illustration of the Adolphus Hotel, where the reception will be held, the die cut rehearsal dinner card, and inner and outer envelope calligraphy round out this classics wedding invitation suite.

Some people question if following the rules of etiquette is still important in this day and age. I am always going to say YES, for a couple of reasons.1. Taking the time to consider each of your guests specific situation honors and respects them as individuals.
2. Correctly formatting their names clearly identifies who is invited to the wedding and helps you avoid awkward conversations down the line.

I took the time to update one of the most popular posts on the blog today, Envelope Addressing Etiquette. This blog post answers many of the common etiquette questions that come up when drafting your guest list like, “how to address the envelope to a married couple with a hyphenated name?” And many more.
