On every Sunday tea time,I loved it. Next day at work Bill and I would talk about it and laugh at the trouble Wurzel got into. The brilliant Joan Simms was also in it as Mrs Bloomsbury Barton who made the mistake of engaging Wurzel and Aunt Sally as butler and maid for an afternoon, to show off at a tea party. Of course , the party was hilariously ruined. “‘ere you are missus , get a gob full of that down yer!” ……

Geoffrey Bayldon (The Crowman), Una Stubbs (Aunt Sally), Jon Pertwee (Worzel), Charlotte Coleman (Sue Peters) and Jeremy Austin (John Peters). Absolutely loved this series, great characters and brilliant cast…Sadly, only Jeremy Austin remains alive today.
The first episode was broadcast on 25th February 1979
and initially ran until 1981.
However there was a spin off Worzel Gummidge Down Under
which ran from 1987 to 1989.
The original series is currently been shown on Talking Pictures TV
on Fridays at 6pm in the UK
