Alternative table decorations for Christmas 🎄

This little vintage terracotta pot contains Honesty seed heads. From sowing the seeds to producing beautiful flowers to harvesting and drying to this state takes almost two years!

Each silvery disc is encased in thin layers of seed pod, which you very carefully peel away to reveal their magical insides, collecting more seeds to keep for sowing again. These are from a crop in my garden that self-seeded after I left an original plant to go to seed.

Not a quick crop, but nature has its own time and whenever I look at these seed heads in the light, they remind me that in the frantic pace of life today, it’s good to remember to take our time. To try to slow down.

In flower symbolism it’s no surprise the meaning of Lunaria is honesty, which is the common name for the plant. Luna, referring to the moon shaped seed pods! But it also symbolises sincerity and wealth, as the seed heads are thought to look like silver coins.

However you choose to look at Honesty, it’s a beautiful plant at all of it’s life stages, but I think it’s especially special at this time of year ✨

This little pot is for sale and will be going to Spirit of Guernsey lovely Christmas Barn this week 🎅🏻

A blend of Autumn veering towards Xmas today…

The flower symbolism here is:

Allium - for unity, prosperity, humility and patience

Amaranthus - for immortality and unfading affection

Limonium or Sea Lavendar - remembrance and “I miss you”

Dark pink roses - appreciation and gratitude

💜

This weekend I’m going to be visiting my lovely friends Joseph Smith and Sarah Vee creators of the amazing Spirit of Guernsey 🇬🇬 Candles 🕯️ at their beautiful Xmas barn!

They’ve kindly asked if I wanted to add some of Beauville’s products, so keep an eye out for updates on what you’ll be able to buy very soon.

As well as my traditional wreaths, there will be more contemporary designs available, both for Xmas and as everlasting gifts, plus table decorations, Paperwhite bulbs in vintage containers that will flower over the festive holiday, floral art and more.

I’m trying to produce a range that suits all price points, not just the high end.

This was a commission for a 70th birthday for the client’s Mum 💜

I worked closely with her to ensure she had the symbolism she wanted in the floral mix we used in the final wreath.

Hydrangea: Thank you for understanding

Helichrysum: Immortality

Gypsophila: Purity and everlasting love

Larkspur: A beautiful spirit, strong bonds of love

Eucalyptus: Strength, protection and abundance

Flowers can often convey the words we can’t find or struggle to speak.

That’s just one of the reasons why I love working with them 🫶

Sneak peeks of a commission 🤩

Did you know Helychrysum (otherwise known as Strawflower) represents immortality and always remembered because it retains it’s colour and shape for so long?

Simple, winter white ❄️

The spiritual meaning of Gypsophila, also known as Baby’s Breath, is innocence, purity and everlasting love. As such, this flower's presence in any arrangement is seen as a symbol of gentle affection and loyalty, ideal for demonstrating strong sentiments and deep emotions that words often struggle to express.

Moody tones after a very stormy week… hope you are all recovering and readjusting, although today’s rain and grey skies are rather gloomy ⛈️

We lost a few trees, but thankfully not my lovely silver birch 💜 which this little wreath base is made of. Topped with one of my floofy hydrangea paniculata heads that I’ve nurtured all year (then lovingly dried), finished with some gorgeous silver/burgundy toned foliage and feathery miscanthus.

Tied off with recycled sari ribbon, this entire wreath is compostible. No wiring or foam, just twine and organically grown goodies.

I’ll put up some lighter photos of this tomorrow, but please message me for more details 😊

Hydrangea, Miscanthus and Nigella (Love-in-the-mist) seed heads, organically grown, dried and hand tied into this everlasting wreath.

Hydrangea represents the message “Thank you for understanding”

Nigella represents harmony and love. The flower is a symbol of the bonds that bind people together.

The combined meaning of this one-off wreath is a pretty special one.

Maybe you know someone special that you’d like to gift this to? 💜

DM for prices.

I have always loved the garden in winter as much as I love through other seasons.

Where others might see decay, I see regeneration.

Once a flower sets seed it’s at the stage where commercially, it’s often seen as having no value.

But this is where potential lives. In these crinkly skeletons.

In the bones of flowers and plants I find comfort. A knowing that there is something so grounding in the skeleton of living things.

I see and feel this in my work and I see and feel it whenever I’m working with my hands outside.

We are far more connected to each other and to nature than we realise. We depend on the life cycles of plants and of the seasons.

Just as I witness and feel humbled by the wonder of humanity’s life cycles as a therapist, I too witness and am in awe of this in nature.

In fact, I think what I’ve learnt most, is that people and plants have a lot in common. We too become crinkly skeletons and our culture doesn’t think this is appealing either….so many parallels…That’s a whole post for another day 😉

📸 1920’s French tin makes the perfect container for what some might call “dead sh*t” and what I call treasure 🙃

If someone you love is a whizz in the kitchen, why not consider the Foodies Wreath?

A hand tied wreath base packed with eucalyptus, sage, rosemary, thyme, bay and dried Kashmiri chili pepper.

All organically grown by me and this will continue to dry, looking naturally rustic…perfect for the kitchen wall or the larder cupboard door.

Everything apart from the base is edible, including the eucalyptus, which when dried can be made into a tea. Simply snip off what you need, when you need!

PLUS it smells absolutely DELICIOUS! My entire kitchen and dining room are a fragrant haze 💚

This one is ready to go and is priced at £60, without the jingle bells. Price plus bells is £68.

I will make another batch of these in the run up to Christmas but if you definitely want one, drop me a message to secure yours.

I can also make a smaller version for £30.

🍂🍁💜Autumn Wreath 💜🍁🍂

This wreath was made with a hand woven Virginia Creeper base.

Flowers and foliage include organically grown hydrangea, allium, baptisia, miscanthus, rose hips, witch hazel and eucalyptus.

Hydrangea symbolism: Thank you for understanding 💜

Witch Hazel symbolism: Wards off negative energy and protects (did you know witch hazel branches are used for dowsing?) 🧙🏻‍♀️

Virginia Creeper symbolism: Friendship and Fidelity 👯

The recipient of this will be receiving more than just everlasting flowers 😊

If you’re interested in an Autumn style wreath I’ll be posting more this week, or you can message me!

Keep an eye out for hand-made wreaths over the coming week.

Many of the bases I use are hand woven from Virginia Creeper vine, and as well as the traditional wreath circle, I’m making more deconstructed shapes, like the heart. All of the flowers are organically grown and dried by me.

There will be a limited supply of Autumnal designs before I start to create Christmas themes.

I was feeling a bit low yesterday, so I decided to do something that I haven’t done for so long….buy myself flowers (and a hot chocolate)! My garden is now rapidly slowing its supply of fresh flowers so this was a real treat.

These 3 dramatic hydrangea heads were just the thing. I’m drawn to the more unusual in any plant or flower variety and their deep burgundy/almost black in places vibe made my heart very happy 😊

I will of course end up drying these to preserve them. They’re way too beautiful to put in the compost.

If you’re feeling a little low why not treat yourself to a few fresh flowers? They can’t fail to lift your spirits and you only need a few stems.

Hydrangeas 💜

I’ve been experimenting with drying different varieties of hydrangea and will soon be posting items for sale using these beautiful flowers.

Did you know that hydrangeas symbolism translates to “Thank you for understanding”?

This dried posy includes hydrangea from a plant my son gifted me and foliage from my favourite tree in our garden, a Cercis Forest Pansy, which has incredible heart shaped leaves that turn from green to red then this deep aubergine.

The grass stem is Miscanthus and will be featuring in some of my Christmas offerings.

Lots more information and updates soon, but for now I wonder if you can focus on the intention this flower brings and send that out from your heart to someone that you’d like to thank? 💜

Welcome to Beauville Flowers 🤎

I grow and produce fresh garden flowers and everlasting gifts.

Look out for more posts soon where I'll be sharing hand-made items for sale including wreaths, potted bulbs and unique seasonal homewares.

Beauville is an homage to my childhood, a dedication to my grandparents, who were traditional Guernsey growers.

They, along with plants and flowers, have always been there for me throughout my life.

I will be sharing the meanings behind flowers and how using them in gifts and keepsakes communicates things that sometimes we can't with just words alone.

I produce everything by hand, so there won't be huge batches of anything for sale. This is a small scale effort and I choose everything I make with care and love.

Thank you for being here 🤎
