You want a wedding photographer who can capture these magical, singular moments. Someone who is wholly tuned in to what’s happening — present, but never obtrusive — so your real emotion and natural beauty can emerge.
The way we work, the way we interact with the couples who choose us is so important. So, while you’re gathering all the other key details about how you might engage our team, we want you to know our work is grounded in these important values...
We practice empathy.
This is a joyous and exciting time, but we understand it can also be stressful. A tremendous amount of time, energy and resources go into making your wedding day.
Add the pressures of time, energy, resources and family dynamics, and it can get overwhelming. I’ve built a team of artists around me who love weddings and do great work, sure. It’s important to me that we also practice kindness, joy, warmth, patience and compassion.
We’re all about being in-the-moment.
With more than a decade of practice, I’ve honed my skill of knowing when to step in and make things happen, and knowing when to step back and simply allow things to happen. I do not come with an agenda. This is not my photo shoot. The photos are about the wedding, the wedding is not for the photos!
Documenting the real emotion of the day is how we capture those picture-perfect moments. They happen organically, not by force, and we’re not going to miss any of them.
We believe there’s love in preparation.
You know how we can work in the moment? We’ve already planned ahead. I want to get to know from my clients what’s most important to them, so we ask! When you’re planning your wedding, we’re planning along with you. The reason for the plan isn’t so we can follow a rigid formula day-of, it’s so we can account for your desires, needs and hopes and eliminate panic or stress. It’s so we have a roadmap. We do not waste precious wedding day time doing things you do not want to do, and we’re completely on top of the things you do want to capture.
We don’t get in the way of the joy of the day.
More than anything else, our clients tell us they were amazed at how seamlessly we blended into their weddings. A lot of couples worry that hiring a team of photographers and videographers will feel like being followed around by paparazzi. We work efficiently and calmly during family portrait time. We de our best to keep things moving so everyone can enjoy themselves. And during the ceremony, the reception and while you’re getting ready, we pride ourselves on being unobtrusive and not interrupting your enjoyment of the day.
We share our deep experience and allow you to lead.
I ask lots of questions, listen to your answers, offer suggestions based on my deep experience of weddings, and then let you choose what’s best for you. For example, have you thought about having a receiving line at the end of the ceremony? It’s wonderful and heartwarming, and it could easily be one of the best times of the day for you.
Just know that with 150 people, a receiving line can take 45 minutes. We should plan for that in our timeline. If you don’t want a receiving line, I have some suggestions on how to avoid one spontaneously happening. Either way, I’ll support your decision and follow your lead.
We value clear communication.
One of my life’s mottos is: be in communication. Some of our clients book with us 15 months ahead of the wedding, and we may deliver their album 10 months after the wedding. That means you and I are about to embark on a potential two-year relationship! I want you to feel well taken care of throughout the entire process. And that means we need to have great communication. The entire experience should flow, be easy and be sprinkled with surprise and delight.
We care about artistic excellence.
You might have noticed that none of these values talk about the quality of our photos. You want to know you’re getting great photos and video at your wedding, and I want you to know that we are committed to excellence. The core of my business is artistry. I mean, the reason I got into this business in the first place was because I am a creative person. That creativity has continued to propel me to keep learning and keep developing my skills. We will artfully and truthfully represent your memories with integrity and soul.
