Principal designer and owner Peggy Russell started Destination Wedding Studio in 2005, and has since planned and designed events from the Florida Keys to Aspen, Chicago to Jamaica, and New Orleans to South Carolina. As a retired architect, Peggy has always enjoyed blending both the creative and logistical sides a

t the same time. Going from designing homes, orchestrating weddings was a natural next step, as it still allows Peggy to see a couple’s dream come to life. Destination Wedding Studio’s work has been featured in The Knot, Style Me Pretty, Borrowed and Blue, Grey Likes Weddings, Wedding Chicks, Loverly, Every Last Detail; and DWS was selected as one of the first WeddingWire Ambassadors, The Knot’s Best of Weddings for three consecutive years, Best of Borrowed & Blue 2017 and recently became a member of Style Me Pretty's Little Black Book, a hand-selected, highly curated collection of some of the wedding industry's most sought after vendors.

Colleen and John were together for many many years before they decided to make it 'official', in the married sense of the word.

With a shared love of warm weather, sunshine, fishing, being out on their boat, and bringing family together, they chose as the perfect place for all ages to exchange their I Do’s.

The celebratory week began with a rooftop soirée to kick off the festivities, ended with a gourmet dinner and sunset cruise, and somewhere in the middle, they swam with dolphins, got married, got tons of sun, gave lots and lots of hugs, and had the perfect fill of family, laughter, and love! It was an honor to be a part of it.

I have learned to love (not fear) endings because it always means new beginnings. And if we look at our journey we often realize what we might have thought was a door closed is really just another door opening.

To our couples…
A wedding, a marriage, a union of two who were once one can feel this way. In order to step into the world as two there is a brief ending of the one. But that ending is really just the beginning. The beginning of something new. Something hopeful and beautiful and extraordinary and right.

To all…
Let go of seeing supposed endings. Welcome all the scary and incredible new beginnings that life has in store.

Almost every Christmas Eve while "Santa is wrapping presents watching the classic It’s a Wonderful Life” it reminds us of what is really important…family and real friends, those that we journey together thru life and somehow know who we are and what lifts our spirits and we theirs.

So this Christmas hold tight to and appreciate family and dear friends that day in and day out remind us that this life is indeed a most wonderful life.

It sure does take a village! Especially when Mother Nature is in full force. Thank you to all those who worked so tirelessly through the wind and rain this past weekend to make such a beautiful wedding celebration. And in good Keys fashion, somehow and in some island way, we still managed to end the night with the stars shining brightly from above.
