LONG BUT IMPORTANT POST!!
I'm looking forward to another weekend of putting smiles on the faces of some kiddos! Face painting can be so rewarding!! 🥰🥰🥰 It's the smiles, giggles, and pretend play for me. Nothing like painting a group of boys as their favorite superheroes and them running off to play as those superheroes or the little girls who want to look at how beautiful they are in the mirror just one more (100th) time as they twirl around and giggle. 🥰🥰🥰 Ah.. childhood is the best!
I have debated on posting this for quite some time, I hope most people know, but I realize, you can't know what you haven't been told and with so many people "popping up" to face paint, I feel it is important, and I shouldn't put it off any longer.
People are always saying to me, "face painting sure has changed a lot since I was a kid." And I agree. It definitely has. It had to. That stuff we used to use.. no bueno!!!
Before you enjoy face painting, Please, Please make sure that your face painter is fully insured and using professional supplies. Professional face paint is made for the delicate skin of children. It is cosmetic grade, hypoallergenic, antimicrobial, and FDA compliant. The stuff they sell at retail stores/Amazon is NOT professional face paint (even if it says it on the packaging 🤦♀️). A good example that it is not something you should be putting on your skin... if I were to use it, my insurance would NOT cover me. Period. Not even sort of, kind of, a little bit. It's too much of a liability. Craft paint is also not safe for the skin. Yes, it says nontoxic, but that doesn't mean it's safe for your face. It's only "safe" like if you get it on your hands while painting your craft project and wash it off relatively soon. The skin on your face is much different than your hands (the reason they make a separate lotion for your face vs. the rest of your body). Craft paint is latex and you can get chemical burns from it. (See attached photos) Professional face painters not only invest in classes to learn to paint, we also continue to invest in learning throughout our career for the latest techniques and staying up to date on safety and hygienic practices. We also adhere strictly to our insurance guidelines because YOUR CHILD'S SAFETY MATTERS as well as our ability to provide for our families. Face painting should be a fun experience, not one that ends in tears. As a Mom of many, I know how heartbreaking it is for our littles to be in pain. So let's avoid that. Have fun, be smart, ask questions, only use removal methods recommended by your artist, and stay safe❤️
P.s. Most of us professionals in a given area know one another. We work with and for one another. If you need an artist but the one you know is booked. All you have to do is ask if they can recommend someone. We are happy to direct you to another professional. It's truly not worth the risk of going the NONprofessonal route.
P.s.s. An example of how safe our paints are... In 12 years of face painting and being in groups with face painters worldwide, I have never known of a single time anyone has ever needed to use their insurance for a reaction to our PROFESSIONAL paints. Kits being stolen... unfortunately, it has been used many times for that.
I hope this helps you to have a happy face painting experience!! ❤️😊
